Using all the machines at Diggerland

[Ad- gifted experience] Dann and I got the chance to go along to Diggerland, which is a very unique amusement park. This place is aimed at either toddlers who really like construction materials or at adults that have always wanted to control big machines but have not had the space or time to do so. It’s an interesting idea; a big park full of different construction machines, plenty of spaces to use them, and some construction themed rides.

Diggerland does have adult only days, which is what we were at. This meant that a lot of the kid rides – like the swings that are made out of a construction machine – were shut but instead there was a focus on all of the different machines that you could actually use. Dann and I did the digger machines first, on the completely flat and packed down ground, which was really satisfying. The staff there explains how all of the machines work, and with the digger you could then dig up the ground in front of you and move piles of dirt to the left and right side of the area. You cannot move or drive the digger, but it’s very fun to just dig!

Next we went over to the mini-game area, which allows you to use a bunch of construction machines for games that they would normally not be used for; with the first being skittles. You can use the machine itself, with a little ball hanging where the digging bucket would be, to knock over a bunch of small metal pins that then can be put back up. The next area had us digging through a bunch of water and small rocks to get bricks and move them outside the pool of rocks. A third game in this area was hook-a-duck, which is just hilarious and challenging. The ducks themselves are so tough to hook without the subtle movement to capture them! Diggerland had a good variety of ways to use these machines.

We then went on a ride, where they had hooked a bunch of seats to the front of a machine, allowing you to sit on them while a staff member drove you about. It’s very bumpy and you get lifted up high, which is quite fun! There are some big dips in this too, making it a bit of a thrilling ride. I can see how many of these other rides could be very fun for younger ones as well. We then got to drive a massive machine around a track, with a staff member guiding, which was something Dann really loved. There is just fun in driving quickly around corners in such a powerful machine. It was a bumpy ride though! They also have a cafe, with lots of British staples, if you are looking to make it a full day. I had both an all day breakfast in the morning and a jacket potato with chili, both of which were enjoyable.

Diggerland is a very interesting concept, as it was once a place where people could get certified in these machines but is now a playpark for those who want to do something a bit different. There is also a soft play for toddlers and a big gift shop, which is a nice touch. I do feel teenagers could easily come here to see if they are actually interesting in construction and it’s very enjoyable for adults who like using machines. At the end, you do get stickers and a certificate that says you have attended Diggerland.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

omg! I had no idea an experience like that existed…This is beyond cool….I wish I could experience operating heavy machinery, that would be amazing…I love the idea.

Wow! This place looks so fun. I am glad that they did adult-only days but I am pretty sure that my nephew who’s crazy about diggers would have a blast here. This is an interesting concept and we’d love to visit soon.
