DoodleJamz – New Fidget Toy

[Ad- gifted product] When it comes to fidget toys, we have so many in our household. From Push Poppers to neon worms, I swear we have collected at least one of every fidget toy on the market. When we heard of DoodleJamz, Amelia was instantly excited! DoodleJamz are a larger fidget – a sort of board that has either beads or slime in them, that can be moved around, drawn on, and otherwise played with. Amelia was stoked to try them out, with Robin following close behind in excitement. With two different types of boards so far, we tried them out!

DoodleJamz Jellypics

The DoodleJamz Jellypics board is a board with beads in them. There are a few different options when it comes to the color of these beads, but they tend to have three different collors that can be seen in the board. These beads are stuck within the plastic on the outside and inside of the board, meaning that this board isn’t messy and you don’t need to re-fill it or anything. Instead, you can use the attached drawing tool to draw, move around the beads, pile them up, and more. You can also use your fingers if you prefer! The DoodleJamz Jellypics comes with a face board inside of it, which has a different face on each side. You can also print off other faces or pictures that you upload to have as background for your own creation.

Amelia and Robin both found this board to be the more focused of the two, as you needed to pay more attention to what you were doing – either making shapes for your face (adding hair was quite popular) or dividing out your beads into different piles of the same color. Robin, who is a bit young for this board, found it hard to move the beads with her own fingers, but could use the thinner side of the tool to easily play with the board. This board seemed to be the board that the kids mostly wanted to put more pictures into, as it’s fun to use the beads to make clothing or funky hair to the picture!

DoodleJamz Jellyboards

The DoodleJamz Jellyboards are pretty interesting in design. They have two colors of slime in them, but instead of being mixed, there seems to be a layer of slime in plastic, then a second layer of separate slime underneath it. If you press down lightly, you can move the top color around, and if you press down hard, you can move both around together or just the bottom color if there isn’t any color on top of the bottom color. This board also came with the drawing tool and with a plain background, which again, could be pulled out and replaced with your own image, which you can create using the DoodleJamz website.

This board seemed to be the favorite of the two – I am not sure if it was the idea of slime is still something these children really enjoy or the feeling of the board itself. The texture and feeling is really nice, something that feels fun to draw, write, and play around with. Robin and Amelia were able to both easily use the board, with both their own fingers and with the drawing tool as well. They weren’t very interested in separating the colors, something that it seems many people might find relaxing, but instead focused on drawing, poking, and erasing their art over and over.

Both of the DoodleJamz were a real hit on our home – Kai even spent some time with them both, declaring the DoodleJamz Jellyboard the coolest one, and it’s neat to see their differences and the small details in them. I would have never thought to have two layers of slime colors, so that they could combine without combining. The website itself is really easy to use when it comes to picking out new pictures or uploading your own, though at this time, the website does print on American paper sizes, so you will need to convert them so that they fit in perfectly. I found that you could also lightly tape them to the board that came with your DoodleJamz to ensure the paper comes in and out easily!

This looks like a fun toy! It would be great as a sensory toy too since the texture of the board is quite differet. It kind of reminds me of those old magnetic drawing boards where you erase it by swiping the tab at the bottom lol .
