Having unique design elements within your home adds so much character and makes your home feel more personal. There are tons of modern homes, with white or off white walls and gray features, but when it comes to homes that people plan on living in forever, many individuals are gravitating towards feature walls that add a burst of color and really elevate your home! I love the idea of having quirky interior designs, so here are some features you should keep in mind:
Funky Tiles
One of the best things I’ve been seeing recently is funky tiles in kitchens, on bathroom floors and even in outdoor patios, which totally elevate your home! For the longest time, the clean look of tiles seemed to be in fashion, with subway tiles covering the back walls of kitchens or the floors of bathrooms. Now, however, there are so many elegant and fun tile options that won’t age badly and will really bring some color and life to your home. Tiles in the kitchen, as a back splash, are so much easier to clean – you might as well pick a tile that can add some character to your home!
Parquet Flooring
Wooden flooring is my favorite flooring in homes. Carpets always can be added for a bit of character, they are easy to take care of and always look nice! If you’re looking to add a bit of character to your flooring, parquet flooring is an amazing option. This look is so subtle, but very interesting and pleasing when you look at it. This type of flooring is actually pretty affordable too, as it’s just a wood flooring with a different pattern.
Sliding Doors on Runners
Doors opening up into smaller spaces take up a lot of room – so sliding doors or pocket doors are really nice to have. When it comes to pocket doors, you can’t often get those randomly put into your home, but you can take your door off of the hinges, add a rail, and then attach a door to it. This door can then be rolled over the door frame, saving in room and adding a lot of function! It’s also a great bit of detail that can make your home stand out.
I love sliding doors. I have several in my home too.
Sliding doors save so much space too!
I love the look of that flooring, I think it adds a little bit of extra detail without being in your face 🙂
It really does.
