[Ad- gifted experience] When it comes to staying in a hotel, you’ll want to make sure somewhere that is enjoyable. Ercilla de Bilbao is a fantastic choice, right in the center of Bilbao. From the moment we went towards the entrance, which is set down, as if walking into some underground sanctuary. The staff at the entrance was very welcoming, quickly checking in everyone (as a bunch of us had arrived at the same time). If you have a lot of luggage, they are happy to bring it right to your room!

Inside the main entrance of the hotel, there is a lobby with a secluded area that you can plug in your laptop and do a bit of work on. There is complementary water and plenty of staff dotted around to help you out. The staff at the desk provide things like umbrellas if you ask or converters if you forget the ones you should have brought.

When it came to my room, I didn’t have a city view, but the room itself was fantastic. A massive bed, a work desk, a couch on the side. There was a large wardrobe with a safe in it, a complementary set of slippers and robe, two bottles of water on the desk. Everything felt very clean and well looked after. There were sockets on both sides of the bed, both for a large plug and for USB. Plenty of lighting on the sides of the bed, around the headboard, and in the ceiling with switches on the sides of the bed and next to the door. It’s got a lot going for it! There was a mini-fridge, for a charge, and a free coffee and tea machine.

The only real issue I had with the room was the bathroom shower. This shower was level, so the water didn’t tilt towards the drain when taking a shower. This meant a lot of water spilled out into the floor of the bathroom. There were plenty of towels, but it didn’t feel like I could shower for long as there was so much water coming out! The shower head itself was very large and there was plenty of provided items; shampoo, body wash, conditioner, along with a shower cap, dental kit and different vanity kits. The wifi was also not the best, but it was useable!

Now, I didn’t take any pictures that early in the morning, but the breakfast buffet at the Ercilla de Bilbao hotel was fantastic. I actually always came really early in the morning, so had the place to myself. There was a variety of bread, pastries, muffins, pancakes, and jams all in one area of the buffet. On the other side, there was both hot and cold options. Yoghurt, enough stuff to make a parfait of your dreams. There were olives and picked asparagus, a special cheese from Bilbao, lots of different sliced meats. There were eggs; scrambled, hard-boiled, and fried. The staff there offered to cook up more when you stand by it too long! There are tons of fruit, different vegetables, chicken nuggets, churros, and so much more. Along with food, there were several freshly squeezed juices, tea and coffee. It’s a fantastic buffet.

There are two different hotel bars in the Ercilla de Bilbao, one on the rooftop and one on the ground floor. The rooftop bar is a little difficult to get too, as you need to take one specific elevator that goes to the floor. This bar has fantastic views and a more diverse cocktail menu. On the first night, I was lucky enough to check out the rooftop bar, as the rest of my stay had a lot of rain! I had a Singapore sling, which was absolutely fantastic! When you order a drink in Spain, you often get some little snacks, and we got wasabi peas and some sort of crunchy snack. Both were great and the views were amazing.

In the lobby bar, there are some beautiful Christmas decorations all set up. This area is very cozy, with a large bar you can sit at or a bunch of tables all around. The menu is more select and the little nibbles are primary potato chips that lack salt, but it’s still very nice. I just liked the one on the roof better!
I had a fantastic time staying at the Ercilla de Bilbao. The staff were very helpful and attentive, which felt very taken care of.
