Granny Franny's Big Seaside Adventure

[Ad- gifted product] Granny Franny is back on another adventure! After reading Granny Franny’s Big Red Bus and Granny Franny’s Big Zoo Rescue, Robin was very excited for Granny Franny’s Seaside Adventure – especially as we had just had our own adventure to the seaside, for the summer holiday. Robin has grown quite a bit since our previous adventures with Granny Franny, and can now read the books entirely on her own, out loud, which has been a joy to see!

Granny Franny’s Seaside Adventure is a story perfect for summer, as Granny Franny is going on an adventure to the ocean, on her big red bus. Getting to the seaside seems like it would be an easy task, and Granny Franny is even taking her friend from school; Maisie, while Thinkerbell (her bus) is taking their friend Wilbur (a whistle)! However, on the way to the beach, there is an accident in the road which does pull them off course.

To make matters worse, when they get to the beach, places are shut, Wilbur can’t make it… Granny and the bus are both quite sad at this turn of events and it’s starting to ruin their holiday. This aspect, showing adults with emotions, I feel is a really good point in the book. Holidays are really stressful for adults to try and pull off, and having a book that shows that adults can get sad and stressed too, is really useful. Thankfully, the kids pull out some surprises and help Granny and Thinkerbell cheer up, and they do have a great holiday at the sea!

Granny Franny’s Big Seaside Adventure is a really fun yet simple story book for younger kids. Robin really loved seeing all of the different animals on each page who were also on vacation. She though the story was cute and loved the hand drawn pictures. I do feel some aspects of the story could have been slightly longer, as there is a lot going on, but it does feel like a holiday; jam packed with adventure.

Aww looks like such a fun read for the little ones! It’s fun finding light reads during the summer months to keep the young ones interested in books!

Yeah, we are doing the same. And our local library is doing a reading program that ends in a medal, which is pretty encouraging!
