[Ad- gifted products] Blind bags are something that every brand seems to have now-a-days. There is a lot of wonder in opening up sections and finding some sort of mystery there. Recently, we have gotten more into blind bags, as the children find it really fun to discover what toy it is! And, so we were really excited to get our hands on some Harry Potter Mystery Capsules! We had a Series 1 mystery capsule tucked away in a bag, so decided to see how the capsules have changed from series 1 to series 3.
When it comes to the Harry Potter Mystery Capsules, both series have the same shape and general design. There are three compartments, all labelled with numbers. The first two give hints as to who is hidden in the third compartment, so it builds up. The first compartment has a hint to the house, the second has a spell or phrase, and the third has a bunch of little mystery bags that allow you to find the character you have. These mystery bags are all paper, which is good as tiny plastic bags might be a bit much, and they contain a wand, a character, a small item and an animal or larger item, depending on the character. There is also a collection sheet in each one.
Harry Potter Mystery Capsules Series 1
The Harry Potter Mystery Capsules from series 1 contained more characters than the series 3 counterparts, but that is due to the number of “bronze” versions of the characters. We ended up getting a bronze Hermione in ours, which is pretty cool. There are only two characters in both series; Harry Potter and Hermione, which is an interesting choice. Our series 1 Harry Potter Mystery Capsule was not as well designed as the series 3. The hint to the house was heat-changing, where you place your finger on it to reveal a color, but half the time it didn’t seem to reveal for me – maybe I am just not warm enough. The little paper that has a spell listed on it, actually changes with water, but is just simply not as well designed as series 3.
Harry Potter Mystery Capsules Series 3
We had a few Harry Potter Mystery Capsules from series 3, which had the same design but was just a bit more polished. Instead of the color changing heat thing, there is a scratch off (you can easily scratch it off with a coin or your finger nail), to reveal the house that the character is from. The water changing hint is also bigger, less squished in the packaging, and just looks better as a whole. This series has a mystery character that you can find and did away with the bronze editions of the characters all together, which I think is a good choice. There are a lot of littles that comes with this set – a small wand, a character, two small trinkets, a bigger trinket or animal. We ended up getting Dolores who has a huge white cat, Trelawney and Harry Potter. They all stand well on their own and look pretty great to be honest!
I quite enjoy the build up in this capsule, giving you clues as to what you might get in the main area. The bags themselves, which again are made of paper, have really nice designs on them, and the little trinkets are fun to open as well. We ended up unboxing these on our Instagram and Tiktok, if you are interested in unboxing ASMR.
