Every month, Amelia and I do a little mother-daughter bonding at a cupcake class! This time,. Sweet Designs by Jennie had a new design for us to all try out. We actually have been going for roughly a year now, which is absolutely wild, and she is still coming up with new classes for us to do. This specific set of six cupcakes were actually a custom order from last year, that someone asked for, and Jennie felt it would make a good class design! We’ve been doing bouquets and wreath classes previously, so having just six to do was a shorter class then we’ve had as of late.

The Hello Autumn cupcake class already had all the cupcakes baked and all of the supplies out when we came. As always, Sweet Designs by Jennie gave us drinks and started showing us exactly what to do with the fondant. This fondant was a little softer than usual, so it was slightly tricker than normal! We started off creating the bases, so that they had time to set, adding in a wood texture effect using a little plastic card that had the desired lines, which were rolled in. We also picked our words to spell Hello Autumn on one of our cupcakes! These bases were for the two middle cupcakes.

We then started on the rest of the fondant decorations that we needed, which were a variety of different sized pumpkins, which were in a few colors! We created some little acorns too and some flowers using a flower press we have used previously but a new cutter, creating such an interesting look to them. I do like the colors for this class, they were very fun for autumn! One thing I didn’t enjoy as much as before was the freaking squirrel. Now, neither Amelia or myself enjoyed creating the fondant squirrel. Jennie’s came out so adorable, and she tried her best to guide us, but there just was something so challenging about this little creature. When I was finally happy with my body, I then failed hard with the tail and it kept falling down!

We did enjoy making all of the pumpkins and the piping, so it evened out. When our fondant was done, we moved on to the piping. The Hello Autumn Cupcake Class had a good mix of fondant and icing, as there were two sunflower cupcakes that we iced. I really like the leaf technique turning into pedals, which came out so cute. There were some fondant flowers that also went on these on the picture, but Amelia and I decided that our sunflowers were too cute to add flowers on top of, and we moved these to our pumpkin cupcakes. We also had stamped out some filler like ivy leaves and leaf-y leaves (as Jennie called them), which were on the foam mat to keep their shape. These hardened well and looked fantastic. This is one of the two Autumn themed cupcake classes we are attending, with the one next month leaning more into Halloween!
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
