Hermitage Rd. Bar and Restaurant | Review

Hermitage Rd

After going out to the Lavender Field, we went to the Hemitage Rd. Bar and Restaurant! This place had some really quite upscale, lovely food and I am so glad Dann picked it out. I look forward to going back, as I really enjoyed the food that much. The boost upscale pizzas, steaks, ribs, burgers and more. We ended up getting two mains, a side to split, and were very full by the end of our meal.

Jungle Juice and Virgin Porn Star

Neither of us were drinking that night, so Dann got the Jungle Juice mocktail – this had cranberry, orange and pineapple juice, as well as passion fruit puree and was topped with lemonade. I got the Virgin Porn Star mocktail, which contained passion fruit, pineapple juice, lime and grenadine, also topped up with lemonade. Both of these drinks were very refreshing and fruity, which was just what we were looking for!

Calabrian Spiced Nduja Sausage & Basil Pizza and Sticky Sweet Chilli, Lime & Ginger Glazed Pork Belly Ribs

Feeling like I wanted a bit of pizza, I got the Calabrian Spiced Nduja Sausage and Basil Pizza, which is cooked in a real pizza oven in house. The dough is all hand made and fermented, which makes it very crispy with tons of air pockets. I really enjoyed the texture of the sausage, which has basically melted into the pizza. It was a very yummy pizza, but not nearly as wonderful as Dann’s ribs. His sweet and sticky ribs were absolutely lovely. They fell off of the bone, in a sticky glaze that was just wonderful. It came with fries and slaw, though both of these were pretty standard.

Marinated Olives, Sweet Chilli Glazed Buttermilk Chicken Wings and Wild Mushrooms, New Potatoes & Shallots

We did also get some small bites to go along with our food at Hermitage Rd. We got some marinated olives first, which were very yummy, in an oil and herb sauce. These were eaten up quickly. Another highlight, almost as good as the ribs, were the sweet chilli glazed buttermilk chicken wings! I normally dislike sweet chilli, but these were sweet, spicy, sticky and crispy – with a lot of lovely topping as well. The mushrooms, new potatoes and shallots was a small side we ordered to go with my pizza, and it just lacked salt. That might have been the issue with all of the side dishes, really, as they all lacked a bit of salt and seasoning in general.

Overall, the service was really nice at Hermitage Rd, they explained the menu to us, asked if we needed more drinks whenever ours were empty, came over to check on us, and – we ended up boxing some of our meal but leaving it at the table, as we walked out a waiter actually ran out after us with what we had left. This place is quality, in both food and service, though the sides are worth skipping out on.

This food looks so good, although I don’t know how I’d choose between pizza and ribs, esp as those ribs look so good x
