History Heroes: Artists Card Game – Learning by playing

[Ad – Gifted Products] Every other Monday we go down to our local Geek Retreat to play a tabletop game and have milkshakes. This week, our tabletop game was History Heroes: Artists card game, which is a twist on learning about artists. We have previously played a History Heroes card game, that was all about learning about history itself, so we were pretty interested in seeing what this card game was all about.

History Heroes: Artists card game is a game that highlights a bunch of different artists throughout history. Players get delt a bunch of cards in front of them. They then can turn to the person next to them and start reading out the clues on the cards. Often at the top is the time period that the artist was popular, their name, and then the clues. We started with the first clue and made our way down, letting the other person guess whenever they wanted. This card game covered so many different artists, with some common and more obscure facts. There are points assigned to the number of clues it took for the person to guess, but as we didn’t want to use paper to write these down, we instead gave the card to the person who guessed correctly and moved onto the next, rotating who was guessing and who was reading.

The art on the History Heroes: Artists card game were quite fun too. All of them are hand illustrated with some of the art behind the depiction of the character at the top of the card itself. These works of art are so fun to look at and really bring the cards to life. There are 40 artists in total, so a lot to guess and get through! Amelia recognised so m any of the different artists, but still wanted to hear more of their facts after she guessed, which was fantastic to see. It’s a card game that very much supports casual learning in a fun way.
