I really enjoy making various snacks for people. When the kids are here, snacks are needed anyway, so coming up with new snacks is always fun! Cereal bars was this weeks snack as they are healthy and easy to make. They don’t take any baking, it’s just warming a few ingredients and getting everything all mixed up!
Homemade Cereal Bars
Simple and easy no-bake Cereal Bars
Equipment
- 8 x 8 baking pan
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1/4 cup Peanut Butter (or any nut butter)
- 3 cups Oat Based Cereal
- 1 cup White Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup Cranberry Raisins
- 1/2 cup Raisins
Instructions
- Combine honey and peanut butter into a bowl. You can then microwave them at 15 second at a time, then stir, until they are melted. We do not have a microwave (we just never got in the habit of using one) so I made a simple double boiler until everything was completely melted.
- Combine cereal and raisins into a bowl. Add in the honey and peanut butter mix and stir to evenly coat.
- Pour the mixture until an 8 x 8 baking pan that’s been lined with baking paper. Press down to compact.
- Freeze for 30 minutes until the bars have hardened. Cut into bars
- Melt the white chocolate (either in the Microwave at 15 second, then sir, until melted or by using the double boiler method.
- Dip the bottom and a bit of the sides into the white chocolate and place back on baking paper.
- Freeze again for 15 minutes, then serve when the chocolate has set.
Notes
These cereal bars can be placed in the refrigerator or can be frozen for up to three months.
Cereal bars are a very customizable, you can replace one of the half cups of raisins with half a cup of pumpkin seeds, nuts, other dried fruits, or even chocolate. It’s really up to you and your taste buds.
The kids really liked the peanut butter, especially Kai. Amelia and Robin loved the cranberry raisins, which was a pleasant surprises as they had not had it before. These are quite tasty and went down a treat.
