How I Relax After a Long Day

Moonpig

2020 has been one heck of a year, so I wanted to talk about how exactly I have been relaxing in my free time. When it comes to self-care, you really do need to take the time to do things you enjoy and that relax you, so that you can recuperate! Being able to relax and having go-tos have been a really good way to calm down.

Cooking

I always love cooking, but particularly recently I have enjoyed cooking more and more. Creating small desserts and putting together menus of delicious foods have been a highlight. I have even attended a few digital cooking classes that I will be posting about soon! Creating delightful menus or just trying out something new is always fun and really helps keep your mind busy.

Playing Games

I have been playing quite a bit of Animal Crossing, as many of you know, but I’ve also started diving into more challenging, mind consuming games like Solitaire, as I had started working with a team working on a Solitaire-related game. When I was younger, I used to watch my grandfather play Solitaire in the evenings, as he unwinds from a long day, but I didn’t know there were so many different types like Spider and Freecell. Playing Solitaire really is a good way to keep your mind busy, as you learn through playing cards and planning ahead. It’s been fun diving back into it!

Big Baths

I am a fan of lounging in the bath, popping in a bath bomb and putting on a face mask, before relaxing and waiting for the water to rejuvenate me. I often listen to music or play games in the bath – as it’s a place I don’t ever have to do anything at all apart from soak. I have always been told that baths cure all pains, and though I don’t feel they cure everything, they do help put to rest any aches I have ever felt.

Watching Netflix

Or well, any subscription platform actually. I really enjoy just zoning out in front of the TV and watching some mindless show that doesn’t mean much – American TV game shows are best for this, as they have so many recaps you never truly need to pay attention to them. The background noise is soothing when I am focused on other tasks and during the evenings, it’s easy to put on more attention grabbing shows or movies to keep my mind busy until nighttime.
