How to revamp your flooring on a budget

*AD/Collaboration, but as always, all views are my own.

Much like your walls, your flooring is something you will always be looking at. They give your room specific vibes, and can be customised or changed to really change the feel of your room. There are lots of ways to re-do your flooring, but often it is seen as a very expensive action that is better left alone. In reality, there are plenty of different options to revamp your flooring in a way that will not break the bank. Changing your flooring up can revamp your flooring and feel of your room.

Deep Clean your Wood Floor or Carpet

If you have existing wooden flooring, you can revamp it by cleaning it. Deep cleaning your wooden floor is more than just mopping the wood. You can buffer your floor, which basically takes a small, thin layer off of the top of the wood. You will use a cleaning solution to do this, either buffering specific spots (which is sort of like spot cleaning) or by renting a buffering machine and buffering your entire floor. This second option can result in a floor that looks shiny, clean, and basically new, especially if done correctly and shined afterwards! Carpet, on the other hand, can be professionally cleaned or cleaned with a shop vac – another thing you can rent. A shop vac or wet/dry vacuum allows you to mop your carpet, using cleaning solution to clean out the rug, and then pulling it up so that your rug does not stay wet.

Carpet Tiles

If you are looking to get a new carpet put into your home, to revamp your flooring, you might find that the pricing is quite high. Carpet is often very expensive, especially when it coms to installation and getting enough material. There is always the more budget friendly option of getting carpet tiles. Carpet tiles are often cheaper as a material and can be easier to install, as they are squares that you can easily put into place. You can pick different colored carpet tiles to create a pattern, if you are looking to revamp children’s rooms or plane rooms that could use something totally unique, this is a great concept to explore.

Engineered Flooring

If you are looking for a wooden flooring look, but don’t want to food the cost, there are plenty of cheap flooring options when it comes to engineered flooring. Unlike laminate, this flooring is much more hearty and will last longer, but won’t break the bank budget wise either. Engineered flooring looks like wooden flooring, feels like wooden flooring, and is purpose built to be used as your floor. There are tons of design options and a few different types of engineered flooring as well, so you can make the most of your budget and pick something perfect for you.

Rugs, potted plants, and decorations

If you are looking to revamp your floor but really do not have the budget to re-do your floor, consider getting a beautiful rug to go on top of your floor. A well placed rug, or some potted plants on the floor, can hide anything undesirable about your floor. Though these can often be small and very inexpensive changes, they can change the feel of your room and make your flooring more attractive. Re-arranging some of your furniture as well, can sometimes change the look of your floor, especially if you open up the space.

Deep cleaning can make a huge difference, and I do agree that a large rug can be enough to totally change what the floor looks like without having to fully change it x

Throw rugs are great ways to bring a new and different vibe to a space. Great design tips here! I’ve been wanting to give my home a bit of a refresh for the holiday season.
