If the Slipper Fits...

[Ad- gifted product] If you’ve been here a while, you know we are big fans of reading before bed every night as a way to wind down. When we were presented with the children’s book ‘If the Slipper Fits…’ we were happy to add a story about dancing to our collection! Ballet and dancing doesn’t come up often in the books we currently have, so having a new topic to add to the book pile is always welcome. If the Slipper Fits… is book three in the Sugarplum Stars series, featuring the same adorable characters who have different dilemmas to take on.

If the Slipper Fits...

In this book, Emma the lovely rabbit and Pinky, an adorable pig, are at a ballet recital for the play Cinderella. After the roles were announced, the two girls hear someone gossiping in the dress room about them and why Emma wouldn’t have fit the lead role, which has to do with her physical attributes. The girls then go on to talk to their ballet teacher and each other, about physical appearances and how they don’t have anything to do with how good of a ballerina they are.

The characters within this book are very cute, all hand drawn. The words and story is simple to follow and nice to read. The general theme of hearing gossip and dealing with it appropriately is very nice to hear within a story. Our family quite enjoyed the book, especially the younger two, as they both very much enjoy dancing!

The author, Lindsay DeRollo took ballet classes for a few years as a young adult and still continues to watch dance performances and enjoy them. She also loves reading books and figured she’d dabble in writing some of her own. Is both the author and illustrator of these books, which is a very big achievement.

You can find If The slipper Fits and Lindsay DeRollo’s other stories on their website.
