[Ad- gifted product] Stop motion animation is something that seems to get easier and easier as technology evolves. The KLIKBOT Zanimation Studio is a good example of this, providing a background box that you can build up, a few characters, a phone stand and an app to create your own smooth and wonderful animations. Kai is always interested in creating digital content, so he was very excited to try out this toy – starting with building the larger, car-like robot that he could play with in his scene.
The larger model was very easy for Kai to put together on his own, and he had it down in a few minutes flat following the instructions. He build up the background, got his characters in place, downloaded the app, and started following the tutorial. The tutorial seemed quite easy for him to understand, though the UI and directions could have been a bit more user friendly – he kept fearing his videos were not saved and had some trouble changing the background to a new background – something you can do in this app, however he did get the hang of it after some time. The background idea is really cool, allowing you to pick from a bunch of different backgrounds and replace the blue or green screen with them!
The characters in the KLIKBOT Zanimation Studio are really cool. You have a person-like figure and this car creature, which has suction cups for hands, meaning this big creature can climb up the walls and move around in strange ways – something Kai took full advantage of. He was moving the creature slowly up the walls and creating big gravity-defying scenes. This thing is also sort of like a car, in the way that the person figure can get in it, and ride it, which is another thing he kept animating – the process of getting into the creature (or riding it I guess) and then moving it forward. It’s really fun watching back his animations and having him voice over them, telling a story with what he created. Both of these characters have a lot of posable and moveable limbs, so they can animate in a huge variety of ways, which helps when it comes to the number of animations that can be made with just these two characters.
The KILKBOT Zanimation Studio is easier than previous animation playsets, and due to the unique characters, were ones that Kai seemed more interested in! Kai had a lot of fun playing with the set on his own, and then showing off the videos that he had accomplished. He ended up spending a good chunk of time playing with this set on his own, which was really good to see, and had fun doing so before showing us the video he was most proud of. It’s a great set for teaching those about animation, and it’s awesome that Kai was able to do most of it on his own. I am sure we will be picking up more KLIKBOTs to play with in this set too. You can see a video of his animation on our Instagram!
Wow, that’s so cute! My nephews will surely love this. I will definitely check this out.
I hope he enjoys it!
I wish this was around when I was a child. I was kind of doing stuff like this without a smart phone of course but I was making my own movies with toys.
I totally was too, with a camera!
Wow this is super cool and also pretty educational. I just love it and would love one of these for my kiddos 😉
It’s a really great kit, and keeps them busy for a while!
