Exploring Larkins Farm for Christmas Trees!

Christmas is coming up fast and many people are already getting ready for their Christmas decorations. One of the main decorations, the center of the entire show, is always a Christmas tree. We tend to go for real Christmas trees – there is something about going to a Christmas tree farm, taking a look at the forest of trees waiting for homes, and selecting the one that fits perfectly in your living room, to decorate and display for the holidays. Larkins Farm is all about KeepingItReal with their selection of Christmas trees at two different locations in Essex.

Larkins Farm invited us to go check out their location at 199 Nine Ashes Road, Ingatestone, ahead of their Christmas season. They have a massive, yet slightly hidden tree farm, with a ton of different sized trees. Some were quite large – perfect for outdoor spaces, while others were very small, great if you want to decorate a child’s room or get one to put at the top of your table, as my grandmother use to when I was a child. There were plenty of medium sized trees as well, for those looking for something in between. We were told all about these trees, which have been planted in the fields and left to grow naturally, without any sort of weed killers or pesticides sprayed around them. Normally, at Christmas tree farms, weed killers are sprayed between the trees, to keep a clearer pathway, but at Larkins Farm, they much rather let trees grow naturally, so that they aren’t soaking up chemicals and can last longer.

When it is time to take these trees home, we will be able to see all of the pre-cut trees moved to a new area, where the weeds and overgrowth won’t be there, so that everyone can more easily walk through them, to pick out the best one. Larkins Farm also has a large selection of potted trees – which can be planted after the holiday season if you’d like to keep your tree forever! Along with potted plants, they have two types of trees to choose from – the Nordmann Fir which is a classic Christmas tree in my mind and the Norway Spruce, which is more full, with a lot of branches!

You can currently pre-order your Christmas tree on their website, which includes a height guide with a person figure on it so you can decide what height you want. You can go to one of their two locations and pick up your tree or have it home delivered. At the location we went too, we were shown an area that is going to be decorated and set up as a meet and great with Santa – making exploring the farm a very magical adventure for little ones and those who want to meet Santa this year! Their second location, in Colchester, is actually hosting a Christmas Market for people to explore, so we would recommend going and checking out all these farms have to offer.

You can use the code JupiterTree to get 20% off from now until November 21st. Larkins Farm is open for four weekends, from Saturday the 27th of November.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
