[Ad- gifted experience] Earlier, before all of the trees were ready, we got a chance to check out Larkins Farm and explore their Christmas Trees! Larkins Farm is a local Christmas tree farm, that has a variety of different Christmas trees waiting to be brought home for Christmas. These trees are grown naturally, with weeds all around them and free of pesticides, but have been cut down and placed into an empty field, so that people can explore them and pick out the ones they want. Larkins Farm is known for having natural and real trees – and as it is a family tradition to go out and pick out our Christmas tree, we were excited to select one!
When we arrived at Larkins Farm, there were some new signage around, as well as signs along the trail that leads to the Christmas trees. In the first area, there are a bunch of pre-cut trees, standing in the ground, giving you a quick area to look at and select a tree from. This area was also right by a decorated Santa place, where you can pose for pictures and pick up a little candy cane. This area is quite small, but is cute for photos and a nice little entrance into selecting your Christmas tree.
Beyond this initial area of trees, there are two back lots that are a short walk away, where the Christmas trees are not currently cut down. You and your family can explore this area too, and pick a tree to be cut. We ended up finding one we loved in the back lot, and soon one of the staff members came and cut it down! They then can load you, your tree and your family onto a vehicle to take you back up the hill, but we carried ours up ourselves. Once back in the Christmas area, the staff actually allows the children to help net the tree – which everyone was excited about. Robin supervised, but Kai and Amelia had a great time pulling the tree through so that it was netted!
Along with cut trees, they also offer a variety of potted trees and trees that can be delivered right to your door, however, we find it far more fun to go and look at the trees and pick the ones we wanted. We drove our tree home, a bit squished, in our car and then placed it into the living room. It’s a really large and full of life Christmas tree – which we have fully decorated with our variety of ornaments.
Larkins Farm is a great tree farm, with super friendly staff and some lovely trees. It’s also quite nice to go somewhere that isn’t trying to sell you a million ornaments, wreaths, and so much more as you can just come here, take some beautiful pictures, and pick out a natural tree.
This post is a part of our Blogmas series, with each and every post being about Christmas or Winter.
I love real trees and going to choose one just adds to the experience. I love the colourful lights on your tree
It really does add to the whole Christmas feeling!
No doubt on the lovely trees. such a good place to have some photos, look around and just enjoy the moment with the family or whoever you are with.
It really is! I love exploring Christmas tree farms.
Searching for the perfect Christmas tree was always a big deal at our house when my girls were young. These looks like a great place to find a beautiful tree!
It is such a fun memory to make!
I used to always love to visit a Christmas tree farm. These days we have gone artificial but I’m not adverse to a real tree next year.
We really love the smell and look of a real one in our house – but there are some beautiful artificial ones too!
We usually get our real tree delivered to us but I do like the idea of making a tradition and going out to pick one. Looks like you chose well x
Getting them delivered does take out the awkwardness of trying to take it home in the car!
I’ve never had a real christmas tree but they look like a lot of fun. I think it would be such a great holiday tradition.
They are really different and smell so good too!
