I am no interior designer and never have had an eye for what colors should really go in what rooms. My dad was a painter, and he loved taking his work home with him. In the winter, when there was less work, you could find my dad taking lovely paint that he had leftover from jobs and painting up various rooms in our house. These walls changed colors often, making the house feel new, but I couldn’t have ever been the one to pick them out. When you are lost and unsure of what color exactly, there are now services that can give you some pointers. Lick Video Colour Consultancy is one such service.
I have never done something like this, so I was both nervous and excited. I was quickly assigned a Lick consultant named Tash and set with a date for her to call me, via WhatsApp, so she could see my space. I choose my office / our bedroom, as it’s a multipurpose room that I have been trying to redecorate, slowly, during the last few months. I have a more clear idea of what I want to do with that room, so I figured it would be a good starting point.
Tash called on time and was excited, she seemed to really love her job. I was able to easily show her my room and explain my needs – I like natural light, my room color themes were black and gold which sort of contradicts this, and the room needs to have storage as well as work as an office and bedroom. After showing her around and having a small chat, she was excited to start creating a presentation for me! She seemed to really understand what I wanted too, which was great. At the end of the call, I took some still photos for her and sent them over. The next morning, I had a lovely presentation in my inbox. This presentation showcases what the Lick Video Colour Consultancy feels would be best for your room, what your desires are, and shows off some pictures of how you can style your room. One of the images actually had the exact bedframe we have in the image, which was a great touch.
This presentation was a few pages long, with one main page to explain what paints Tash thinks would be good and where to use them, as well as some tips to help set the room completely. There is also a page on Lick as a company and their paints, one as a summary on what you will need to get started redecorating and repainting, and another on exactly what you wanted. I then emailed Tash back and asked about a third color, to maybe continue the theme of green further on the walls, and Tash easily explained why she didn’t recommend that – as the expert, she was right – for someone looking for light this was the best idea.
From there, my consultant was able to order up a paint decorating kit and paint for me! I really love the cans Lick paint comes in. Their starter kit for painting is perfect too, it has everything you need from a paint roller brush to a metal tray to hold your paint. If you’re looking for a little direction and help in re-doing a room, having a professional who is happy to take on your project is a great place to start – and you can get up to three rooms looked at in just half an hour! I am very happy with my Lick Video Colour Consultancy and think that anyone needing direction would be too!
