A Late Lunch at Marco’s New York Italian

Marco's New York Italian

*AD – this experience was gifted to our family for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

Dann and I love going out for a bite to eat! As an American living in England, I was pretty excited to try out Marco’s New York Italian, at their London Bridge location. Using their gift voucher for a meal for two, we had a bit of a set dinner, with a starter, main and dessert, along with a glass of prosecco included. Booking for the voucher was easily done on our website, and we did not need to show the voucher at the time we arrived either.

The timings for this type of meal were at a bit of a weird time at Marco’s New York Italian, with their lunch slot starting at 2:45. Either way, we were excited to try some food. When we arrived, we noticed all of the New York and general USA decorations around the place, which seemed to be themed a lot like the name. The set menu we had to pick from had a few different things to pick from in each category – though both of our set menus were kinda dirty. Starters included nachos, ribs, panzanella salad and buffalo wings. Mains included Bolognese, a burger, avocado Caesar salad, spaghetti pomodoro, chicken Milanese or a steak. The steak had a bit of an upcharge, as did a few other quick bites and a massive list of sides. For dessert, the choices were a cheese cake, brownie, espresso affogato or tiramisu.

Dann and I picked the same starters, each getting four of the buffalo chicken wings. These wings were spicy but not too spicy, a little tomato-y and decently spiced. They came with celery and blue cheese, with the blue cheese only being so-so. For our mains, we both upgraded to the sirloin steak, and were informed about the charge. We didn’t mind it at all. The steak came with a really dressed salad that was made of rocket and parm, the fries were perfectly crispy and quite salted, and the steak itself was cooked really well. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the grilled tomatoes were a nice side. It was all very decent food! For dessert, I went with the baked cheese cake, which felt like a pretty normal cheese cake with some blueberries and blueberry sauce on top. Dann went with the espresso affogato, which is ice cream and espresso. He quite enjoyed his too. After our mains and before our dessert, the waiter at Marco’s New York Italian asked if we wanted time to wait, but the wait had already been over an hour between arriving, having our starter and having our mains. This felt a little strange.

Marco’s New York Italian felt pretty average! I was really happy with how seasoned our main course was, and felt the food itself was pretty decent. Do I feel the steak was worth an upcharge of that much? Not really, but I am glad I got to have it as it’s want I wanted best off the menu. Dann and I have pretty similar tastes in food, so just agreed on a lot! The staff were attentive but not bothersome, and the venue was attached to a hotel, so there were some others dining as well. We’ve actually been to Marco’s New York Italian previously and had a taste of their whole menu, which this felt like a good highlight of.

That is so different that they started lunch late. I’m sorry the experience was just average, but it’s still nice to get out and about. 🙂

I’m sorry to hear about your Facebook hacking ordeal. It’s frustrating how widespread this issue seems to be. Kudos for your persistence in reaching out and providing the necessary verification. The slight name change and the little blue tick indicate progress, and it’s reassuring to hear you’re getting regular updates. Fingers crossed for a swift resolution and the return of your account soon!

It looks like a lovely spot to eat & the food looks good, that cheesecake stole the show though. I am biased though as it is my favorite dessert. Thanks for sharing this.

I haven’t visited that restaurant yet but I should as I do like Italian food. The food all looks delicious and I really want to try those wings and the bolognaise. It’s a shame you felt it was just average.

I’ve only been to Marcos New York Italian for afternoon tea before and that was pretty good but never for food. It’s a shame it was pretty average so a good thing that you had a voucher x
