Cancer is always a hard time for the people that experience it, and everyone seems to know at least one person, either in the family or friends circle, that has had cancer. It’s just one of those things that seems to be everywhere, even if unspoken. Cancer can be especially isolating, uncomfortable, and hard. That’s why Cancer Care Parcels were born, creating a bunch of different packages of items, for men, women, children, teenagers and even couples who are dealing with various stages of cancer.

You see, Dr Shara Cohen set up Cancer Care Parcel after she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had trouble finding ways to relax and be calm herself. All of these packages focus around items that can be used to unwind, stay comfortable, or provide a bit of calm to people suffering with cancer and it’s treatment. They have been designed with feedback from people battling with cancer, to provide a package that contains exactly what they’d need. There are a wide variety of packages, each with their own themes, items, and focuses.

I got the chance to take a look at the Mermaid Chemo Survival Kit for Teenagers, which had a lot of cute and colorful products in the bundle. All of the items are very useful, designed to help alleviate some of the side effects of chemo. This kit contained a blanket, in the form of a mermaid tail, which is very cool and one of the main things that stuck out as super lovely from this parcel. Who doesn’t like a giant mermaid tail? And there is plenty of room inside the tail for people to get cozy. There was also lip balm, some fluffy purple warm bed socks, two different net cushions – one that had beads in it and another with cute sun and cloud pattern that is more fluffy.

The box includes a packet of peppermint herbal tea, as well as a pair of anti-nausea wrist bands, a sleep mask, a spare set of earbuds, a large water bottle and a USB light. Also included was a bunch of information for those currently battling cancer, on where they can get more help and some information on how to feel less nausea, which is really helpful when one gets one of these kits and feels quite alone.

I can see how all of these items could be so useful for such a stressful time, down to the relaxing tea and reading light. So many of these items are thoughtful in their uses, which can really make a difference when it comes to a gift.

This is such a lovely and thoughtful box! I especially like that it comes with information about where you can go for support – that’s really thoughtful. 🙂
