Nim’s Christmas Share Bags – Vegetable Crisps | Review

Nim's Christmas Share Bags

*AD – the items in this review was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

When it comes to new foods, we tend to try whatever we can get our hands onto. Crisps are a pretty popular thing to snack on, however, we tend to purchase more of the vegetable crisps and baked crisps from our local shop. When Nim’s announced their Christmas share bags – three different varieties of Christmas themed vegetable crisps, we were very excited to try them!

Nim's vegetable crisps

Nim’s Christmas Share Bags do advertise themselves as a very healthy crisp that can be used as a salad topper or a crouton for soups, if you don’t want to snack on dried vegetables. All of them contain very few ingredients and no actual preservatives, which is always a plus.

Beet & Butt Crisps

The humorously named Beet & Butt crisps were by far our favourite crisps out of the lot! Beetroot and butternut squash are the only ingredients in this bag, and it contains just that. There isn’t added salts or oils, just some air fried vegetables that can be snacked on and enjoyed. The Beet & Butt crisps were the easiest to put into a bowl and snack on, they were crispy and yummy. If you aren’t a fan of salt (as these tend to have a lot of salt on them in stores) these crisps are a great way to enjoy the crispy vegetables.

Bubble & Squeak Crisps

Our next favourite was the Bubble & Squeak crisps, which contained red cabbage, brussels sprout and parsnip crisps. The cabbage, which tasted amazing, was hard to pick up and eat like traditional crisps. As these crisps advertise themselves as something that would work well in soups or salads, we made a butternut squash soup to enjoy with our crisps as a crouton on top. These crisps worked better, in our opinion, as a soup topper – they re-hydrated a bit which made the hard stem of the dried burssels easier to eat. As a topper to a soup, the crisps added a nice texture to something that would have otherwise been smooth. As there is no added oil or salt on these crisps, its a very healthy take on a crouton.

Brussels Crisps

The Brussels crisps were the hardest to eat as a snack in a bowl. Much like the Bubble & Squeak crisps, which contained brussels, these stems were just tough to get through. To us, this crisp would also work better in a soup, as they soften up a bit. We enjoyed the flavor of these crisps, as they were a subtle brussels sprout flavor that does fill up your need for a crispy snack. As they were tough to chew, we would recommend looking at these as an ingredient for something simply Christmas themed, as it would work better as that!

All in all, these crisps are lovely in their own rights. You can get all three bags bundled together on their website. We really like healthy alternatives to junk food, so air-dried vegetables without all of the salt is always a good addition to our cupboard.
