Baking with Nutritional Ninjas

Nutritional Ninjas

*AD – the item in this review was gifted to our household for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

If you follow me on TikTok, you will be more than aware that our household is a big fan of homemade foods! We create the majority of what we eat, from scratch. As a result, the children – especially Amelia and Robin – are very interested in cooking. Previously, we were apart of the Little Cooks monthly cooking box, but over time Amelia felt these recipes weren’t to her taste, so we were excited to try out the Nutritional Ninjas baking box!

Nutritional Ninjas offer actually cooking classes aimed at kids, along with this monthly subscription box that brings the baking to your doorstep. This box contained a recipe for Chocolate Chip Flap Jacks, the dry ingredients for the recipe, a pasta recipe, two fun fact carts, a sticker, a sheet for the child to fill in how they feel, and a certificate for them once they have finished. Amelia was well excited to get into this box, so we ended up doing it with her, but Robin, who is much younger, would have had no issues participating in the box as well.

The flap jack recipe included a check list of how to get ready, which Amelia followed, and then a bunch of easy to read and use instructions to get her into baking. Everything was pre-measured out, and all Amelia really needed to do was measure out the wet ingredients – butter and golden syrup, which she did with ease. We do not have a microwave at our house, so we forgo those instructions and heated the mixture gently on the stove top, before combining. Once everything was combined, Amelia spooned it into the baking try, and let it cook in the oven.

I was unsure if she was going to be a fan of flap jacks, as she previously did not enjoy oat things, but she really loved the bars – and so did her siblings who all got to try some. She then filled out her feelings card to say her favorite part was eating, and the flap jacks tasted “the best”. The certificate is a really cute idea inside this box, however, you need to write down the recipe you had, which I feel kind of discounts it. I wish that there was something done by them to showcase what recipe you got in the box, instead of it being written, but to be honest that is a pretty small comment.

The second recipe, for Tomato and Basil Mozzarella Spaghetti is a really simple dinner, and the first step is breaking the pasta – something that you are really not meant to do when making spaghetti, so it’s not a recipe we were looking to try ourselves. Though, the entire pasta dish is actually baked, instead of boiled and cooked, so it is a interesting twist! We just don’t eat much pasta in our household, especially pasta with tomato sauce.

With Nutritional Ninjas, we had a great time with the baking recipe, and enjoy how simple this box is. It doesn’t have a bunch of added extras we won’t use, and the recipe is easy to follow, allowing the child to take charge and lead the conversation, which is always a good thing.

This is such a great way to have family time in addition to teaching kids an important part of life. My sister-in-law has cooked and baked with her kids from a young age (safely). This ninja box sounds like a great option.

I think baking or cooking sets like this are so good to encourage kids into baking. Chocolate chip flapjacks sound great to me x

I love this and it looks delicious. This looks like such a great activity to do with your young ones too where they can help cook.
