When in Canada, I needed a place to eat breakfast each day before the event I was attending. This was a work trip, and due to time zones, I woke up quite early and quite hungry! Thankfully, I ended up eating breakfast at OEB Breakfast Co for both of the breakfasts I had in Canada, after going the first time with my co-worker. OEB is a breakfast, brunch and lunch place that tries to elevate the dishes they cook, so they are upscale versions of things you might see at other breakfast eateries. And, they did deliver! I must say that OEB Breakfast Co did have a lot of fantastic sounding drinks, but I am a huge lemonade lover, and ended up getting lemonade every time.
The Soul in a Bowl
In Canada, everyone talks about poutines. Though there were lots of other options from scrambles to sandwiches, I went with two poutines the times that I visited, the first being the Soul in a Bowl which felt like their classic. This was a bowl of potato wedges which were very well seasoned and so crispy as they have been fried in beef tallow, with their cheese curds on top, along with a bunch of thick-cut, slow cooked bacon lardons. These bits of bacon were SO good. There was also a brown butter hollandaise and two poached eggs. This dish was truly wonderful. The flavors went well together and it was so well seasoned. Very much a highlight and the reason I went back.
Get Shorty Rib

The second time I went, I got the Get Shorty Rib, which has their signature, seasoned potatoes wedges cooked in beef tallow, cheese curds, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and a bunch of Philly-style beef short-rib pieces. These short-rib chunks were super well cooked and there was plenty for the bowl! The Get Shorty Rib also had their brown butter hollandaise and two poached eggs, which were perfectly runny for me.

I know I mainly got the same sort of thing, but it was just too good to not share with the world. The staff were also fantastic and the egg-theme all around the restaurant was so much fun! I am extremely happy that I was recommended OEB Breakfast Co and that I got to try two of their menu items – if I am ever back in the area I will likely continue to try them all.
