Once a month, Amelia and I go to a cupcake class together! It’s a sort of mother-daughter bonding time that we both very much enjoy, however, Amelia asked to have a few friends over and all go to this class, and of course, why wouldn’t we? The Wonderland cupcake class hosted by Sweet Designs by Jennie was such a fun one for friends as well. Amelia had two of her friends along, one of which who isn’t photographed – we all had a fantastic time.

The Wonderland Cupcake Class is clearly inspired by Alice in Wonderland, and it was a completely new class to us, like they often are. This one had a few unique elements, including luster dust, which we have not painted on before. Most of this class was actually fondant work, with us making lots of tiny things; a tiny bottle, a tiny key, tiny cookies, tiny tea pots… a lot of them were formed using the little tools that Jennie had out for us, which was fun to do.

We did the bottoms of the different cupcakes first, so that they could harden up and be flat, adding on details like the objects that needed to go on them or the playing card or the watch’s top. There was some writing using the edible market, which was also quite fun to do. The most challenging thing, I felt, was creating Alice’s dress – which was broken down into a lot of bite-sized steps, but still felt like tons of free-form!

Amelia had a fantastic time hanging out with her friends, who both had never been to a cupcake class before. When all of our fondant toppers were done, including some classic flowers, we then iced our cupcakes either with a simple icing or with the grass icing top, before adding our toppers. They all came out very well and it was such a fun class – I love painting on the gold detail (and added a bunch of extra) as that layer of sparkle was so much fun.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

I always enjoy seeing the cupcakes that you create in these classes. These are particularly impressive ones – I love the theme. Almost too good to eat!
omg a cupcake design class, that is soooo cool…I would love to join this class or something similar, this is so fun.
I am a sucker for anything Alice in wonderland themed. It always amazes me how well your cupcakes come out, so professional looking x
A cupcake class is such a cute idea! My kids would love this!
The decorations are absolutely adorable! I really love the little tea set! it’s super cute.
What a lovely class to go to! If there were a cupcake class near where I live, I’d be happy to go!
You can tell the theme of these cupcakes! These would be so much fun for a summer picnic.
This place looks incredible and I would love to take any sister and our daughters here for the day 😉 What a sweet treat and they are the cutest little cupcakes ever too!
Good write-up, saved me some digging. Slightly different game but same idea: I put together achievement thresholds and release/price data for Fell and Sell since the sources were scattered.
These are so pretty! You definitely did an amazing job with those cupcakes. They look almost too good to eat!
