Barista Box – Coffee in your Post | Review

[Ad- gifted product] I recently wrote that I’m definitely not a coffee snob, but that I’m finding myself drinking more and more of the stuff as a result of a combination of working from home and the general feeling of listlessness that lockdown has imparted on most people. Thanks to boxes like Barista Box, and a few of the other ones out there, coffee can become a bit more than a means to an end, though. Rather than hoovering up instant coffee to push back tiredness, it invites you to dabble in Americanos, Espressos, ‘Lattuccino’s, and, simply, to take a bit more care in the crafting of a cup o’ coffee.

Most people reading this are already buying coffee, although I’d imagine that the vast majority of you are still – as I was not too long ago – using instant coffee. There are reasons for this, it’s quick, it’s cheap, and over the years people have managed to get it to deliver enough flavour variety that people feel like when they’ve found one they don’t mind, they can stick with it comfortably. But, a lot of these same people are quite happy to spend £4-5 on a coffee when they’re out and about. Kits like the Barista Box can massively undercut that rate, and you also get some equipment which help you further bump up your drinks at home.

Little Cooks Co Baking Box for July

In July, Amelia got probably her favorite Little Cooks Co Baking box to date! This box is a monthly subscription box which encourages cooking and baking in the kitchen with your little one – creating a sweet and a savory recipe, using lots of ingredients that are packed right in the box, as well as a few fresh ingredients you need to provide yourself. This month’s box included a delicious raspberry cake, some kale chips, and a craft that Amelia really enjoyed – as well as some seeds and some conversation cards (though we don’t really use these at our household).

KiwiCo Tinker Crate – Glowing Pendulum | Review

Another month, another cool box from KiwiCo. This time, for our fourth KiwiCo Tinker Crate, Kai and I worked together to build an absolutely amazing Glowing Pendulum. It’s a far cry from the previous boxes, which had us build Spin Art Machines, Walking Robots as well as a functional Crane and Pulley, but the clever application of science to create a fun plaything carries through. Also included were a few challenges and related facts through the TinkerZine that comes with each box.

KiwiCo Tinker Crate – Crane & Pulley | Review

It’s been another month, so we’ve now received and completed our third KiwiCo Tinker Crate. Following on from the Spin Art Machine and Walking Robot boxes was a Crane and Crank machine to build, and an accompanying booklet titled Pulley Power. As with the previous two, there’s always a scientific element to these, and this one is grounded in the transferal of energy and physics.

Pretty Suds May 2021 Bath Bomb Box | Review

This month, we have actually moved house! And with moving house, had a bit of an issue when it came to getting all of our addresses updated, so we ended up getting our box quite late in the end. It also took a lot of talking to Pretty Suds‘ customer service, which is delightful and easy to email and communicate with. This theme was “pixels” and as someone who works in games, I was pumped to get the box! As always, this is probably my favorite subscription box and we love adding all of these delicious smelling bath bombs to our bathroom, to be used up on bath days!
