Trying Pets Purest Treats for Cats

Pets Purest Treats for Cats with two cats

*AD – the items in this review was gifted to our family for this post. All opinions, as always, are our own.

We have three, very different cats that are apart of our family! Over the years, Pancake and Pesto have tried a variety of cat treats and foods, where as Popcorn is still a new member of our family. When Pets Purest reached out to collab, I was curious on what our pets would think of these treats. We were sent a bag of Chicken Nibbles, Turkey Dog Treats, and Sprats. I was a bit confused with the treat bag labeled as Dog Treats, but am aware that often treats for dogs are fine for cats as well.

The Pets Purest treats are 100 percent the item on the bag. The turkey is just dried turkey. The chicken is just dried chicken, the sprats are very clearly just dried sprats! Knowing and being able to see exactly what is in your pet’s treats can be really helpful when it comes to being mindful to what you are feeding them. Each of these bags also have a really large amount of food in them, which makes for great value for money. I had actually left the three bags out on the side, after opening up the package, and found that Pancake had clawed through the turkey treats, which felt like a good sign.

When it came to actually feeding our cats the Pets Purest treats, however, they didn’t seem that into it. The treats are on the hard side, much more solid then the food that they eat, so I think it’s just not something they are able to easily eat. Pesto, who’s not a big treat guy, was a cat that I felt wouldn’t care at all no matter what treat it is, but Pancake and Popcorn are huge treat eaters. I tried feeding them the individual nuggets of chicken and turkey, but they just primarily licked them, and then moved on.

Thinking maybe they needed hydration, I tried soaking these meat treats in a bit of hot water, however, they didn’t get much softer and our cats didn’t seem to care still. Popcorn did chew one up a bit, but ended up spitting it out after a while. Pancake is a huge fan of fish, so I assumed he’d like the sprats a lot, however, once again they were just far too hard for him to eat beyond licking the outside.

I do feel these treats are probably fantastic for dogs, that are more use to hard items and able to easily eat them! The sprats seem like they’d make great food toppers as well. I do feel it’s super valuable to know about pet food and treat companies that have simple ingredients, and as long as your pet likes treats on the hard side, I am sure they’d enjoy these!

I feel like dogs tend to eat anything and that cats are way more fussy! It is great that there are so many options available and that these are just naturally dried meats and fish.

I am hearing about these cat treat products for the first time but the thing that’s putting me off is their overall hardness. Hard to eat foods are the least favorite for cats in my opinion!

The personal experience with Pancake’s interest in the treats adds authenticity. However, it also highlights that while the treats are high-quality and natural, they might not suit every pet’s taste or texture preferences, as seen with Pancake, Popcorn, and Pesto.

It’s so nice to have good treats on hand for our little ones. They can be fussy when it comes to healthier treats so it’s nice to find a brand that nails both!
