Seeing the Animals at Port Lympne Safari Park

[Ad- gifted experience] One of our goals this year was to see more animals! This was something Robin had picked as a New Years goal, so we wanted to go out to something over the summer holiday that had a bunch of animals. Port Lympne Safari Park not only had tons of animals to look at, but also had a safari trip that allowed us to learn and see so many more animals out in large spaces, so we were very excited to head along! This place is absolutely massive, we were in no way able to explore it all on the day we went, so it’s well worth checking out the map and deciding where you want to go. We skipped out on the Dino Walk, due to wanting to focus on animals, and did prioritize monkeys as they were the most exciting thing for us all. There are also feeding times listed at the entrance, if you want to watch an animal feeding.

Port Lympne Safari Park Safari Tour

The first thing we did after arriving was go out on safari tour. There is two large vehicles that you need to go to, piling in to get on your tour at your selected time. Right by the waiting line, there is a play park, which is perfect for little ones that don’t want to wait in line. Robin and Amelia went off there while we waited for our timeslot. Once we were on the bus thing, we sat in groups of two on the truck. There is a speaker where the driver tells you about the various areas of the park and the animals themselves, however, it’s of very poor quality so we couldn’t really hear what was being said despite being one row back from the speaker.

Otherwise, the tour itself was fantastic. Port Lympne Safari Park is divided by parts of the world where these animals are. Their areas are all massive, so it’s often a bit of a luck game to see specific animals. Our tour took us through each area and along many of the longer areas, so we did spy a lot of animals. Zebras, Antelopes, Monkeys, Rhinos, Giraffes and so many more large animals were just around us! I sat with Robin, who was pumped the entire ride, pointing out animals and trying to spy literally everything. It was great to not have to walk around this area, as it would have honestly just been to big to walk around.

Walking around Port Lympne Safari Park

Our safari ride felt like the perfect amount of time and we were dropped back off where we started, so went off in the opposite side of the safari. This area had a large garden, full of beautiful flowers and fountains, before breaking off into areas full of animals. We saw some buffalo, sleepy painted dogs, and so many monkeys. Some of them were eating their dinners which was fun to watch. Port Lympne Safari Park did have little information graphs about each of the animals, telling you how big they get compared to humans, what they eat, where they are from in nature, and lots of other details which was fun to read and learn about. There were plenty of places to stop and rest, and we ended up getting some ice cream as it was such a warm and wonderful day.

We took our time slowly walking around learning about the animals and trying to spy them! All of the enclosures had lots of hiding places, so depending on the animal, some were hidden away from our eyes. This is expected at any place that has animals, as the ability for them to not be around other people and be able to have time to themselves is important. Everything felt very well set up for the animals there! We really enjoyed the amount of animals we got to see and all of their personalities. The grounds themselves are massive, so if you are going, I would really recommend taking the time to do the safari tour as there is just so many animals to see. It’s such a great place for your first safari!
