Pumpkin Cat Treats | Recipe

It’s Halloween and that means everything is pumpkin! I felt that it would be cool if Pancake took part in some of the Halloween festivities. With this in mind, we went down the route of Pumpkin Cat Treats! Pumpkin is pretty good for furry friends, being a good source of fiber, Vitamin C, E and A, as well as great for preventing hairballs. Making your own treats is a very easy thing to do – not only will you know exactly what your furry friend is eating, you will also have control over how much!

Pumpkin Cat Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 (120 gram) Can of Sardines, drained
  • 1/2 Cup Oats
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Step 1: Take your oats and put them in a blender. Blend to a fine flour.

Step 2: Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Break up the fish with a spatula and stir until everything is combined.

Step 3: Spoon mixture into silicon mold.

Step 4: Bake at 160 degrees C for 25 to 30 minutes, until firm.

Step 5: Let cool. Serve sparingly to your cat, storing leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.

These pumpkin cat treats are very easy to make, though mine didn’t come out as orange as I would have liked! Our puree was homemade, but you can use a canned puree – just make sure there is no added sugar in it. I find that cat treats are really easy to make and Pancake always enjoys all of the fuss – as well as something new and tasty. The spooky month of October is always great to make pumpkin treats, but you can make them really anytime of the year. We tend to make cat treats for special events, and Halloween falls under that category, so that’s why we have decided to do it!

This post is a part of our Blogtober series, all with a Halloween or Autumn theme.

Hi Jupiter. What a great idea. We no longer have a cat but I’m sure that our dog would like these treats. And, at the risk of lowering the tone, they should help with the quality of the poo, too!
