A Day Out at Santus Circus

Santus Circus

Whenever the Circus comes to town, you better bet we are going to be there experiencing all it has to offer. In the past, we have gone to several circuses, each with their own focuses, acts, and performances! There are so many different traveling circuses, that we are hoping to someday see them all, especially as Robin is so interested in circuses, when she sees the tent she starts asking about it! Santus Circus was the newest to stop in our little town, being a French inspired circus we have never seen before!

The Santus Circus had a very good layout inside the tent, with everything quite easy to see! Sadly, the benches were very close to the bench behind, which meant the sitting area (and kicking each other from little kids) was a bit hard, but we were able to shift our family around to ensure all of us were very comfortable. One the show began, there were many, many acts that were wonderful to see!

The very first act of the night actually turned the circus dark, and had a mysterious cloaked person dancing and moving around light waves to the sound of Skrillex. It was memorizing and interesting, as a light show and a dance, and really set the scene. However, Santus Circus had a bunch of smoke added to the room for this, which made the next few acts a bit challenging to see through all the smoke! The next act was an acrobat, on a long ribbon, trying to stay above the smoke it seems so we could see him!

There were several other acrobats in this performance, with different shapes that they used to preform from the heights of the stage. There was a beautiful women preforming on a giant heart, two women preforming in sequence on a giant box above the stage, a man who darted up a pole hanging from the middle of the stage and was able to preform, move and jump around it. Loads of these performers seemed really comfortable in the sky, where there performances were really lovely.

Along with acrobats, Santus Circus had a juggler, who could juggle moving up and down stairs, as well as a girl who changed clothing a lot. This is sort of an old trick, that we had not seen in a while or in a circus before. She had clothing that ripped off into other clothing underneath, but did it in a way where you couldn’t tell that that was what was happening! Magic seemed to make a show at the circus, with someone appearing in a box, tied in a bag, and another person going into a small boxed area and after a moment and a sheet being removed, suddenly had a motorbike in with her!

There was a giant slinky man, I have no idea how else to describe him, who came out with a bunch of long, stretchy tubes on his body, like a giant monster, and danced around the stage. A clown, who can hula-hoop and jump over fire on a tight rope, motorbike riders who all got into a giant circular cage and rode around themselves, which was a very intense moment as the cage wiggled a bit! There was a gymnastics like performance where everyone used each other to climb up, do flips, and dance… There was also an entire bit about shooting cross bows, which had a circuit set up where they shot one balloon, which shot another another, and so on about 5 times, until an apple above the person’s head was shot with an arrow! Santus Circus has a great variety of performances in general! We really enjoyed this variety and the number of different props that Santus Circus had, and would go back again if they were back in town.

I love a good circus but I’ve not been to one in a long time. This looks like fun as there are so many different elements, so if you don’t enjoy one thing something else will come along that you will enjoy x

This looks like a fun experience. I don’t see any animals at that circus as well and it is nice to see less/no animals. Looks like a nice thing to do as a family.
