A Day Out at Santus Circus

Whenever the Circus comes to town, you better bet we are going to be there experiencing all it has to offer. In the past, we have gone to several circuses, each with their own focuses, acts, and performances! There are so many different traveling circuses, that we are hoping to someday see them all, especially as Robin is so interested in circuses, when she sees the tent she starts asking about it! Santus Circus was the newest to stop in our little town, being a French inspired circus we have never seen before!

A Day Out at Cortex Circus

When the circus is in town, we are always around – so when we saw signs appear around our town talking about Cortex Circus, we had to book up tickets right away. This circus was a bit more pricey then previous ones that have appeared in our local town, with pretty expensive front row seating, but it turns out that’s because. a lot of the show is actually done towards the most expensive seating – with this circus being quite different from previous ones we have attended.

Cortex Circus has a bit of a punk feel, from the spike studded leather jackets to the graffiti that they have as their sign. This punk feel persists throughout the show – and there are a lot of different costumes and such that are on display, which correspond with the different acts that you can find on the stage in front of you. A lot of the acts had dancing numbers as well, which is pretty interesting. Several of the dancing numbers happened in between major acts, with a few others happening during acts, though these were not my favorite. The ones that actually happened during the acts sometimes made it so that we could not actually see the act itself, between the dancing and fog machines. Otherwise, the dance numbers were really well done and worked quite well in the setting.

A Day Out to Paulos Circus

[Ad- gifted experience] Ever since seeing Circus Fantasia, Robin and I have been keeping our eyes peeled for more circuses to visit. There is just something about all of these different performances, ones that you can not take your eyes off of, in quick succession. It feels magical. Dann always describes it like boss fights in JRPGs – intense, with loud music, drawing in all of your attention and captivating you. Over quickly, when you just want to see more. When we were invited to Paulos Circus, we were all very excited to get along! This circus had acts we had never seen before, which is already pretty exciting! Though Circus Paulos is running at a smaller capacity, due to COVID, it is still packed with amazing performances and a lot of fun.

A Day Out at Circus Fantasia

My eldest, Kai, saw the colourful posters around town and started asking about visiting the circus. Circus Fantasia, a traveling circus on it’s 8th year of show, was in our area for the week, with their new 2020 program. Jupiter had never been to a circus before, and when I had gone as a child, it was much too loud for my ears and I had a terrible time. Despite this, as Kai wanted to go, we set out to grab tickets up and spend the evening at Circus Fantasia.

A Day Out at Signs of the Time Music Festival

[Ad- gifted experience] Dann and I both enjoy a bunch of different types of music, so when we heard about the Signs of the Time Music Festival, we wanted to see what it was all about. We attended the festival on the Sunday, where we were very excited about seeing Feeder and Reverend and the Makers at the end of the evening. Both of us were also helping out the St Clare’s Hospice, who were the charity partners of the event, which means that we spent some of our time there presenting bracelets to people in exchange for donations to the Hospice.
