Spring Cupcake Course with Sweet Designs by Jennie

I know it’s past Easter, but I couldn’t help booking up another Spring cupcake course with Sweet Designs by Jennie. Our Spring wreath class from last month was ten cupcakes, so this time doing six felt very quick. These designs were mostly different from the wreaths we’ve previously done, which is one thing I very much enjoy about these courses. Even if they have a similar theme, they do feel completely unique and different. Amelia and I are very into these cupcake classes, as it’s the perfect mother-daughter activity to bond. The classes themselves contain up to six people, so it feels super intimate and good. As we have been to so many of them, we knew quite a few of the regulars and it’s so much fun catching up.

As usual, all of the cupcakes were pre-baked when we got there, with different buttercreams and tools set out. We spent the first bit of the class primarily creating small fondant decorations for the top. We had three different stampers for flowers, including two we haven’t used before, so Amelia and I had a lot of fun stamping these out. These stampers made a little circle in the middle of the flowers as well, that we could add sprinkles onto, which looked adorable.

After we had created all of the tiny flowers, done two circle toppers, and created some very adorable bunny ears, we molded a bunny bum and feet. Amelia and I had done this for the wreath, so we were practiced, though I always feel like my feet come out a little strange! Amelia’s absolute favorite was one of the piped cupcakes, as we switched to those next, letting our fondant pieces harden a bit. Two of the cupcakes had grass to pipe, which is a bit of a learning curve as you want a bit of floppy grass to feel more realistic. One of them then had piped nests and chocolate eggs, which Amelia found to be the most fun. The other two piped cupcakes had a simple duel color look, which is equally adorable, and we decorated everything with sprinkles and flowers.

Sweet Designs by Jennie did a fantastic job of walking us through how to make each cupcake. It’s such a fun little class, especially with a few of the people we’ve previously decorated with returning. This cupcake class feels like a little community, and it’s always a lot of fun to decorate and then eat when we get home. Robin ate up the egg nest as soon as we got in, from my box, and was very excited there were mini-eggs on top.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
