If you have been reading along for a while, you’ll know Amelia and I go to a little mother-daughter cupcake decorating class each and every month. Last month, we went towards the very end, to attend one of the wreath cupcake classes. Sweet Designs by Jennie doesn’t do too many wreaths – they are sort of bigger classes – though she has mentioned she will be designing and adding more, which is exciting. The wreath cupcake courses have us decorating 10 cupcakes each, instead of 6, which is a lot of fun!

As with all of the classes by Sweet Designs by Jennie, all of the cupcakes were already baked and cooled when we arrived. There were tons of different tools, piping bags already full, and lots of colored fondant. We started off by creating the little fondant decoration for the inside of the wreath, which we could put text onto. It was simple enough and matched a lot of the other fondant classes we’ve done, so we quickly got that! We then tried to make little bows for the top of the wreath, which I truly struggled with, but Jennie was a fantastic teacher with lots of patience with me.

From there, we continued on with fondant decorations. The Spring Wreath Cupcake Course was a big practice in fondant! We used stampers to make smaller daisies, cut out little bunnies, and create a bunch of leaves and flowers. The leaves are left to dry on a little soft foam texture thing, which gives them a lot of movement! We also sculpted out of fondant, which felt very different then the stamps and presses that we were using before. Our sculpting were for bunny bums, which Amelia thought was so much fun! She really liked how both types of bunnies came out.

Once all of our fondant was done, we got our cupcakes out and piped some simple buttercream on top. Then, we had the freedom to decorate the top however we wanted. Amelia and I put sprinkles on top, then started adding in all of our decorations. Previously, in these classes, we’ve been decorating set cupcakes instead of creating lots of pieces and designing a wreath of our own. Amelia very much enjoyed this difference, though when we went home to eat these, there were cupcakes that mysteriously pulled decorations from the one next to them! We both quite enjoyed the fact that there were so many more cupcakes to decorate – and Sweet Designs by Jennie does a fantastic job of making all of these classes feel very unique – we always learn something new.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
omg these cupcakes are the cutest. I would love to join a course that would teach me how to make such beautiful cupcakes, so cool!
That sounds like such a fun class. She did such a great job on her cupcakes. They’re beautiful!
