Checking out St Clare Summer Fayre 2025

When it comes to fayres, England seems to have a lot of them! St Clare Summer Fayre is a yearly event, this one being the second we have gone too. Earlier last year, we got more involved with St Clare’s Hospice, which is what this fayre is put on for. Years ago, Dann’s sister lived out her final days at the hospice, which took very good care of her, so they do have a soft spot in our families heart. The fayre is aimed at raising money for the hospice, but also has stalls from other local charities, along with games and stands of fun stuff to do.

Entry price is per adult, with children going in free, and they do have a good sized car park which is really ideal for those spending the day there, as it’s in the large greenspace right by St Clare’s Hospice itself. When we arrived, we picked up our packet all about the event, and started exploring. Inside the booklet, there was information on the hospice, of course, along with a find the teddy challenge and information on this year’s sponsor. We started off by looking around at the different stalls at the St Clare Summer Fayre, which had a lot of local talent!

Robin and Amelia really love the crocheted stuffed animals, which had a “build your own” option where you got a little creature, a home or blanket for the creature, a pet or toy for them, and an adoption certificate! Robin went with a red dragon with a red ball toy and a red fuzzy blanket where as Amelia went for a little bird, a home for the bird, and a little pet for the bird. They both very much enjoyed their picks. We also stopped at the Harlow Rock stall, because of course we did, where we picked out some rocks and a bee bath for our fairy garden at our house. These were beautifully hand painted!

The weather was very warm during the St Clare Summer Fayre, so we did not end up getting our face painted, as Robin felt it might melt! She felt the same about the cookies and cake stall, which caught a little too much sun, but otherwise smelled amazing! We did go to the back of the event and play some of the game that were set up there. Kai did a few rounds of Crockery Smash, which is absolutely perfect for teenagers, with Amelia and Robin trying once. Then, Robin did the LEGO walk, where she crawled along LEGOs, granting herself a candy and certificate. We also went around finding the teddies, which you could mark off and claim a teddy bear prize. There were other games like a bean bag toss and a high or low card game too! They also had an inflatable slide, though it was a little warm for us, and music playing in the centre of the event along with different performances throughout the day.

Out of the sun, St Clare Summer Fayre did have an arts and craft room, which had some coloring and origami! We met up with some of our friends and had a fun time shopping, hunting for teddies, and walking around. They do have food stalls as well each year – last year we ate SO much. It’s neat to see another community fayre, especially with such a good cause behind it.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
