Stranger Things has released it’s newest series, series 4, on streaming platforms and instantly became the show everyone is talking about. It’s number 1 on Netflix, there are suddenly loads of clothing, merch and even London experiences for the show! This is very exciting for fans and those who enjoy Stranger Things, which is more aimed at adults and young adults, as it’s a sort of horror drama rooted in science fiction. One of the newer items that has made it’s way over to England is the Stranger Things Upside Down Capsules in Series 1.

We have done a few different capsules on this blog, and quite enjoy the mystery between opening them and seeing what’s inside, however, many of the capsules we have opened before have not been aimed at primarily young adults. The Stranger Things Upside Down Capsules work a little differently, and feel almost like a mini puzzle. When you open the TV, you first pull the paper out of the TV screen, which gives you a direct order on how to open everything inside. This order creates a puzzle, where you get clues as to what character you have received, and open the character itself last.

Following this guide, you end up opening a mix tape first, which contains a scratch off card that will give you clues and a card that you can dampen with water for a further clue. This water one, in both the Stranger Things Upside Down capsules I tried, were sort of hard to see. Then, the instructions want you to open an envelop which has a card in it that has the logo, to put in your TV, and another card with a peel off sticker. After that, you can open the two accessories pouches, then the pouch for the main character. Both of my characters actually could hold the items they came with easily!

I found the Stranger Thing Upside Down Capsules to be really fun to open and discover the various items of. You can slide the cards back into the TV, which feels like two unique endings to the product, where as other capsules have not used the end box as a unique item. The TV can also be flipped open and one of the cards can be used as a background for a second display state!
