How To Break Out of a Detention Centre at Riverside Studios

[Ad- gifted experience] Our second play at Riverside Studios was so much different from our first. We went to see How to Break Out of a Detention Centre, a more emotional and intense performance about immigration camps in the United Kingdom. This show is based on real stories from women who have been in these detention centres, showcasing what has happened to them.

A Day Out at Jack V Giant at the Polka Theatre

[Ad- gifted experience] The Polka Theatre is one that always sticks in my mind as such a wonderful hub for children to play, explore and test boundaries! You see, the theatre itself is quite large, with a few different dedicated spaces for children. There is a dress up area, books that are free to read, colouring, and a magnetic building block wall in one room. An outdoor, treehouse inspired play house encourages outdoor play. There is a cafe, with chalk boards, to keep children busy while adults enjoy a meal or coffee. Even the hallways are full of colourful works of art and interesting displays that are fun to look at! The whole place just feels like it was designed for children!

A Day Out at The Extraordinary Adventures of David Copperfield at Riverside Studios

[Ad- gifted experience] Our first time at Riverside Studios did not disappoint, with the amazing performance of The Extraordinary Adventures of David Copperfield, a play completely consisting of three people. Two actors appeared from the entrance door, and started the performance, laughing and making jokes with the audience as if they were one of us. Then, a box got placed in the middle of the stage.

A Day Out at Battersea Light Festival 2023

We are huge fans of light festivals in our home, so when we heard about the free to attend Battersea Light Festival, we had to go! Dann and I went as a little date night, exploring the lights and the area generally. Battersea has had a bunch of new construction, especially in the Battersea Power Station, which is a giant mall that includes some of the lights from the festival! There is a free, online map which shows the route you can walk around to see all of the different lights in the area – there are 8 of them in total!

A Day Out at Rebus: A Game Called Malice at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch

[Ad- gifted experience] Featuring John Rebus, a retired detective from Ian Rankin’s detective novels, Rebus: A Game Called Malice brings him to the stage, showcasing something beyond the previously written books and bringing a story to a different medium. This performance is sort of a murder mystery, but at the same time, the characters are also trying to solve a murder mystery at the end of an evening dinner.
