Must Visits with the Family at Great Yarmouth

We went on holiday to Great Yarmouth over the summer and had a fantastic time! There is so much to do, so many beaches to enjoy, and lots of really delicious places to eat. After all of our exploring, seeing local sites, and hanging out – I have picked the top three places that we all had a really fun time at in Great Yarmouth, as a family! These places are fun for all ages and are stand outs from our trip that we all still talk about! If you are ever looking for more places to visit in Great Yarmouth, check out their Facebook page.

Play Arcade Games at the Old Penny Arcade

Dann was very excited about the Old Penny Arcade, as a lover of arcades in general, this was something much more unique. The Old Penny Arcade is along side many traditional arcades on the main stretch in Great Yarmouth. This arcade is full old, original arcade machines that takes only old pennies in order to work. You can trade your more current money for a few handfuls of coins, that can then be used in the various machines there – using modern coins, however, won’t work. The machines are really interesting; many of the games are skill based, with you needing to move a ball around, but there are also classics like penny droppers and crane games. There were even fortune tellers and one of those love machines where you both push a button at the same time to predict how much you love each other. The Old Penny Arcade was free to enter, just with you paying for the coins you use.

Go on Rides at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach

The Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is one of the best amusement parks that we have ever been too. Much like the Old Penny Arcade, many of the rides at this amusement park are quite old fashion and different from other amusement parks we have been too. There were lots of fun rides and not too many height restrictions; along with the biggest log flume I have ever seen in my life. The log flume got us soaked, the giant boat ride swung back and forth, the roller coaster was amazing – and had someone physically pulling the lever to stop the rollercoaster at the end. It’s just a really lovely park full of fun rides!

Play a round of Golf at Castaway Island Mini-Golf

After checking out a lot of different mini-golf places in Great Yarmouth, the best one was Castaway Island Mini-Golf. This felt like a full, pirate themed mini-golf course that we could take our time on. The holes were spread out with many tricky ones that felt really fun to play on! Many of the holes had little bumps up and other challenges, which made for a fun and challenging time. Many of the other mini-golf places only had half the amount of holes, and weren’t as fun at all!

Sail in the Sun on The Venetian Waterways

The Venetian Waterways is a wonderful way to connect with some interesting nature around you. There are several parks that are all connected, with bridges, bodies of water, and some interesting plants. Some of the different areas have telephones that you can place to your ear, to hear about the local animals or the plant species that are in these gardens. One of the areas also has boat rides, that you can rent, so that you can row your way around the river! We ended up getting the row boats and had a lovely time boating around and checking out the ducks, as well as going on walks between the gardens.
