Throwing the Best Party with Moonpig

Moonpig

[Ad- gifted experience] Moonpig ran a virtual event earlier this month that was all around throwing the best birthday party possible – a skill that everyone should need to have at one point in their lives, at least. This event showcased Moonpig’s mobile app for ordering gifts, cards, balloons, and flowers as well as making the best cocktails and flower arranging the flowers we then got. This masterclass of three different aspects of throwing a party made for a fun and interesting virtual event that showcased a lot!

Moonpig’s App for cards, flowers and more.

Moonpig does so much more than cards, but that’s what they are known for so that’s where we are going to start. I have an iOS device, so I have had the iOS download of Moonpig’s app. The iOS and Android version are slightly different, with new features on the iOS version. This app has a built in calendar that allows you to import your own calendar, which then will give you notifications when an important date comes up; birthdays, anniversaries, etc – then suggests a card for you to choose. These cards are based on what you got in previous years, giving you a good idea of what you’ve got previously.

These cards then can be customized right in the app, allowing you to write in whatever message you’d like, either through typing on your phone or physically writing on a piece of paper and uploading it to the app. The app then sees the paper and places the handwriting – including any doodles – into the card. The idea that small children can doodle or that your own personal handwriting will be in a card bought digitally is a nice touch! If you are unsure what to write, there are a bunch of categories within the app that can give you a message to put in or help inspire you to tweak your own to be more personal.

They have lots of options when it comes to card sized, but the most comical of the lot is a giant card, too big to fit in a letter box, which you can see using AR – to check to make sure the room on your table is big enough! These types of cards are so fun to send, as they really are surprising. The app has a bunch of different features really worth exploring – once you have your card, you can order small gifts, flowers and more to be sent. I really loved the Happy B-Day Balloons, which we inflated ourselves using a little straw. These are silver foil balloons, which have lasted absolute ages and are still hanging up.

Flower Arranging

After experimenting with the app, we went into flower arranging using a gorgeous bouquet of flowers called The Luxury Summer Garden, and it was indeed very luxurious as a bouquet – and very fun to arrange. Moonpig provides a guide on how to care for your flowers – as it turns out, you need to clean the water every few days and wash the stems of any slime to get the most out of them! This bundle had so many different flowers, it was amazing – they fit across to vases at our house (and at most of the other homes). We were taught by Roxanne from Moonpig, what flowers to put into our vase first, how to place around them, and most importantly, to make a sort of tent in the bottom of the vases with the first set of flowers, so the others could be poked into them as well. Though both Dann and I tried the flower arranging, they seemed to have been handled a bit too much by our unprofessional hands – it was fun but we do need far more practice to make anything as professional and beautiful!

Cocktail Master Class

James from Mix & Twist taught us three different cocktails, which used vodka that you can also purchase from Moonpig! James was really fun in his master class, showcasing different skills and even doing a few contests between everyone – we placed second for the biggest foam head on our passion fruit margarita. The first drink we made was the Summer Garden, which was super light and refreshing, though for the amount of mint, didn’t really taste of mint. This drink was made by muddling cucumber in a glass, then adding in 45ml Vodka, 25ml lime, 25ml sugar syrup, mint leaves and topped with elderflower soda. The next drink we made, probably my favorite, was Strawberry Fizz which had us muddle strawberries and then add 45ml Vodka, 25ml lemon juice, 25ml sugar syrup and topped with elderflower soda. This drink was very fruity and very lovely, I really enjoyed it! Lastly, we did a lot of shaking with the passion fruit margarita. This drink contained 45ml Vodka, 20ml lemon, 25ml passionfruit syrup, 60ml pineapple juice all shaken with ice until foamy, then poured into a glass.

The master class was so fun! Dann and I do some cocktail making at home and really enjoyed having a professional teach us balancing and how to make these three drinks, which are all perfect for a summer party or just an extravagant time in the backyard with your friends.

Moonpig really put on a wonderful event and it’s amazing to see that everything can be purchased from their app – from the cards, to the gifts, to the alcohol for the cocktails! It’s so much more than just cards, as they were previously known for. When it comes to making parties effortless, having Moonpig is a great resource.

If you download the app and find a gift and card to purchase, Moonpig is offering 30% off a card and a gift when buying together, if you use the promo code APP30ORDER. This promotion ends on 26th August.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

This sounds really interesting! I have never heard of them before, but I think I would LOVE getting to take a cocktail class like that – So much fun! Especially being able to do it from home at a time where we’re often bored at home. Right?
