WOW! Pods are a really unique collectable action figure series. These different toys have miniature action figures inside of a hexagon pod. They do not come out of these pods, and instead work as display pieces, to show off different characters that you like. Each different set has a different color and pattern hexagon, so you can better tell them apart.
We took a look at the Harry Potter series 1 WOW! Pods, which include Snape, Hermione, and Dobby. These three characters all fit nicely in their pods, and all three of them have a white background in the dark. WOW! Pods have a light that can be turned on, allowing you to wave your hand in front of the characters, which then reveals their background – all themed differently and fitting in with the individual character. This light then goes off a few minutes later, hiding away the secrets. Dobby looks particularly cool under the black light, as his book glows green on his face, which gives a lot of depth to his character.
WOW! Pods are pretty unique in how they can be displayed too. Traditional figures actually cannot be stacked up, but as these figures are inside hexagons, the hexagons can be locked into each other, to form different shapes. Each one also has a wall hook on the back, so you can put them onto your wall, creating one of those hexagon tiled areas – like the hexagon lights that gamers often have behind their desks.
WOW! Pods has clearly thought this product through, though it is more of a display than a toy, it is something perfect for collectors, especially those who do not have much space – which is always a problem with people who collect. It is very easy to set them up in their configuration, and they snap together really well, so it’s clear to see how other characters can also be snapped to them! The hidden background i a really fun plus too.
These pods are so cool…Super love the idea and I love that it is modular…So cool…
