Lunch at Yuce’s Mediterranean Restaurant

Yuca's

We had a special lunch date with Robin, as she didn’t have school and her siblings did. These sorts of days are so special – one on one time is rare with such a big, adventurous family. When we asked Robin where she wanted to go, she wanted to try out Yuce’s, as it looks so fancy from the outside and she had never been. Dann and I had gone a couple of times, and were excited to try new food with her. Yuce’s is a Mediterranean Restaurant that has a nightclub above it. They have an expansive cocktail menu, and some great lunch deals as well.

We went in a lunchtime, to try out this lunch deal, which really did give us a ton of food! Their lunch special is from noon until 4pm, Monday to Friday. You can pick two courses for £12.95 or three courses for £14.95. Kids are half price on this meal deal, and anyone under the age of 17 counts as a kid, which is quite nice.

Starters at Yuce’s

For our starters, Dann and I ordered starters for the table, getting three to share with everyone. We went with Grilled Halloumi, feeling Robin would probably like cheese, as well as the Homemade Humus as we knew she liked that, and Dann loves Baba Ganoush, so that felt like a good third choice. Robin did try everything and they brought out plenty of bread for dipping! Her favorite, of course, with the humus. Dann quite enjoyed the Baba Gonoush, which was no surprise, and I enjoyed the humus as well. These portions were quite big and filling, especially with the bread.

Main Courses

Robin picked out the Grilled Salmon for her main at Yuce’s, which came out as the same sized portion that an adult would have got! We were really surprised by this, as this felt like a lot of food for such a good price. Her Grilled Salmon came with a big side of rice and grains and a salad. She quite enjoyed it, and ate most of it. The rice side did have a bunch of veggies in it as well, which was a nice touch. Nothing was too spiced for her!

I got the chicken shish, which had a bunch of pieces of perfectly spiced chicken, with a salad and rice like Robin. I had ordered this just in case Robin didn’t like her meal, but her meal actually took a lot longer to come out then the other two, which was a little weird. As a result of that, my food was sort of cold when I went to eat it, as I wanted to make sure Robin liked her salmon before I dug in.

Dann got the Adana Kofte, which is mince lamb and came with the same salad and rice sides. His lamb was well spiced and cooked deliciously. He enjoyed dipping his meat in the spicy dip that was placed on our table when we arrived, and I did a lot of dipping into that delicious humus. Yuce’s has a small desert menu, if you want to do the three courses; Baklava, Cheese Cake and Ice Cream. We decided to stick with two this time, but really enjoyed the lunch special.

The restaurant looks spacious and the interior is elegant. Based on other reviews, Yuce’s has some room for improvement in terms of quality, consistency and customer satisfaction. In contrast to the reviews, it looks like Dann enjoys a lively and diverse dining experience.
