We are back, after a summer of no Cupcake Classes, due to Jennie taking the summer off, she has finally started holding autumn classes. Amelia and I were both very, very excited – we have a few booked in now that the summer is over, and we were hitting the ground running with a new themed class, featuring new cutters and a new design. We were actually the first class to do the Autumn Wreath Cupcake Class.
All of the cupcakes were already baked and in boxes. This class is a wreath, so there are 10 cupcakes instead of the usual six cupcakes. When we arrived, all of our items were laid out and we could see our dyed fondant, ready for moulding. We started off by making some of our fondant toppers that needed to set, with the beginning being the middle circle that fits inside the wreath on the board. Robin always loves eating this first, which is a big plus! Amelia picked out our letters for the words, and we started rolling and crafting.
These classes are on the smaller side, being only six people in each class, but I was surprised that this class we knew everyone but one person! It was like a big catch up after the summer and it was such a fun time chatting and hearing about everyone’s holidays. One of the new things that we made this time were pinecones, which everyone found to be a little tricky, where we rolled some fondant, put them on a stick, and then used scissors to create the little cuts inside a pinecone.
We also made a ton of different leaves, flowers with details, and used a few different cutters and punchers for these individual parts. The thing about the Autumn Wreath Cupcake Class – and any wreath cupcake class, is that often we make tons and tons of toppers before we decorate – giving us a lot of freedom in the way that we are able to decorate the giant surface area. Everyone’s comes out a bit different, and you can add on more stuff if you’d like.
Amelia and I both loved making the pumpkins for this cupcake class, which we have made before, but they always come out SO cute. I loved the little toppers that Amelia went with – the stems being more pudgy, and I went for longer stick-like stems. It is fun to see the differences in what we are both creating. It was also such a fantastic way to unwind and chat after her first full week of school, just between the two of us. It’s just a lovely time that we both very much missed – and we went home with some delicious cupcakes!
