[Ad- gifted experience] Dann and I absolutely love the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch. It’s just got great vibes and always has a fantastic catalogue of performances. They do have a bar inside, a little cafe, and a stage where you can take your picture. This time, we were invited along to watch Bedroom Farce, which is a comedy about four sets of couples, all exploring their different relationships through a very long day and night.
The stage itself was divided into three bedrooms, each primarily used separately, lighting up the section of the stage that is being in use. This also means that some of the actors are just in the dark bedrooms, waiting for their time to perform, which was quite fun to see. The very back bedroom had an actor that wasn’t able to leave his bed for the entire duration of the play, so he was stuck in the bed the entire time, where as the other actors walked in and out of the rooms.
The story itself is about a bunch of couples in different places in their relationship. There is one couple who are hosting a party after getting a house, drunk in normal, average love. Another couple is in their old ages, the parents of one of the other couples, who are celebrating their anniversary and are set in their ways. The third couple, including the person stuck in his bed, have a bit of a strained relationship, with the wife still slightly in love with her ex and the husband quite whiny. Another couple, who don’t actually have a bedroom shown in Bedroom Farce, are going through troubles and are on the verge of breaking up.
There is some drama at the housewarming party, which is where most of these people start interacting, which sends the troubled couple to everyone else’s house for advice and to clear things up. Bedroom Farce has a lot of comical and funny moments, like laugh out loud ones. There are plenty of awkward moments as well, as these couples talk about their intimate lives. Your watching four vastly different couples, seeing how they all interact with each other and how they talk about each other’s relationships. It’s entertaining, funny and well worth a watch!
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
I love watching plays as well. You’re lucky you were able to watch a live play. There’s nothing like such experience. It looks really promising. I wish they could have a run in Manila.
I love the combination of drama, comedy ,and awkward moments in this play. That’s what makes it feel so relatable.
I love that they have such a great vibe and a mix of performances.
That looks like a fun and exciting play to watch. I would love to watch a live play one of these days.
Bedroom Farce looks like a great show to see and nothing better than a live show like this. Reminds me of when my aunt took me to see Fiddler on the Roof…. it was incredible!
