This being our second Christmas together, we figured we’d take on another challenge! Blogtober went so well, with us completing it, that blogmas should be a breeze, right? As per usual, we are going to be doing Blogmas a bit different for our blog. Normally, blogmas is just a challenge where people should post each and every day of December, however, as we post a lot anyway, we are aiming to do at least one Christmas or Winter themed post a day, with other posts going out as a bonus. To kick off Blogmas, we have made a little tag to get us into the spirit of the challenge.
Snowy Christmas or a Warm Christmas?
Jupiter: Though I do not like the cold, I do like the snow, so a snowy Christmas is what I would love to see! My dad use to say we weren’t made for the cold, but I miss it now that I live in England where we do not get nearly enough snow.
Dann: I prefer a snowy Christmas because Christmas isn’t about going out and doing big activities. It’s about staying in, being warm, and looking out and seeing a peaceful and calm world. Snow does this well, making such a calm moment.
Favourite flavoured hot chocolate?
Jupiter: I have been enjoying Black Forest Hot Chocolate, now that it has come to our local Tesco Cafe. I quite like the taste of cherry and having it in a hot chocolate is so fun!
Dann: Actually, I also love that black cherry one. We had one this year – and when I was a kid I think that Cherry stuff was quite rare. Things like black forest gateau things were seen as quite posh, so having stuff that is chocolate and cherry feels a bit posh too.
What is one Christmas tradition you love?
Jupiter: When it comes to Christmas traditions, I love so many of them. Decorating the Christmas tree is always a highlight, as is cooking up a bit of special food for Christmas time. Dann and I always make ham bread, which for whatever reason he thinks is the most amazing thing ever!
Dann: Probably seeing family, throughout my life I have had a lot of different traditions that have come and gone. At the moment, Jupiter and I are trying to build new traditions, but one that always has stuck is seeing family, which is especially lovely this time of year.
Do you do Elf on a Shelf, and if so, what’s your favorite prank?
Jupiter: I do not do Elf on a Shelf, but this year we have introduced The Reindeer Feeder!
Dann: We do not do Elf on a Shelf, but I can understand why people do it, as it’s very cute.
What are you most excited for this December?
Jupiter: I am most excited for winter markets. I really love going to the markets in London and seeing all of the little items they have. I am quite happy markets will still be open!
Dann: For me, I am excited about building new memories and continuing to do more traditions with my family.
What is your favourite Christmas Movie?
Jupiter: My favorite Christmas Movie is The Year Without a Santa Claus. It’s an old claymation movie that has the Heat Miser and Snow Miser working together to switch the weather around the world, so that Santa will continue being apart of Christmas.
Dann: It’s probably Home Alone. Home Alone is a little bit about family, a little bit about a bratty kid – but he’s not a bratty kid because he actually does value family – and it’s a bit about coming together. It’s a bit funny, a bit scary, and is actually about Christmas.
Cookies or Mince pie?
Jupiter: Cookies. The shortbread ones with chocolate chips.
Dann: Mince Pie. You can eat cookies all year.
What is your warmest wintertime memory?
Jupiter: A memory I always have is waking up, in the early morning, and being the first to take a look at the Christmas tree. With the windows behind it at my dad’s house, you could see the snow, freshly fallen, in such a still neighbourhood. The tree was always so full of lights, with many, many sparkly presents underneath it. It’s an amazing view.
Dann: I fondly remember being a kid and my more direct family going up to see my nan and grandad. My family was always so happy, the house was warm, there was a lot of food. It was a lot of fun talking, being a family, and at the end of it we would all sleep over there, spending some of the next day at theirs. It was always a lovely time of year.
What is something you must have in the winter time?
Jupiter: Warm, cosy blankets to wrap up with in the evenings.
Dann: A bottle of mulled wine.
What is something you’d love to do in the snow?
Jupiter: I love sledding. I have so many memories of sledding until I am cold and wet. My grandfather use to take us all out to the hill by his house – me and my two siblings and our two to four cousins – and we would sled and sled and sled. I love sledding to this day.
Dann: I’d really like to go snowboarding, though I do feel like I may be getting a bit too old for that! Snowboarding has always seemed like a fun idea.
As this is our first Blogmas tag, we wrote up the questions and passed them on to a bunch of bloggers who are also doing Blogmas. Check out their blogs to see even more Blogmas content!

I love the shortbread cookies, too. There is something so simple about them yet they also scream Christmas. Home Alone is my second favorite holiday-themed movie. I know it word-for-word, too. My aunt, who is French-Canadian, had me watch it in French and I was able to translate it with ease (she didn’t know I had it memorized). For a moment, she thought my French was really that good! Thanks for the fun Blogmas Challenge!
Aww that’s amazing – knowing all of Home Alone! Happy Holidays.
