3 Fun Oat Based Recipes – both Savory and Sweet

[Ad- gifted product] Whenever I think about oats, I think about breakfast porridge and oatmeal cookies. Neither of which are that flavorful or that fun to be honest! They are classics, but often if you have oats laying around, you might want to try something new, adventurous, and delicious. Also, did you know you can use oats to make savory dishes? They can be just as tasty in savory dishes as they are in sweet dishes! Today, we wanted to share three oat recipes, two savory and one sweet, with you for you to create and enjoy!

Savory Sausage Oatmeal

When it comes to a more filling meal, this savory sausage oatmeal is great for those looking for a filling meal that packs flavor. It still has the oatmeal feel of breakfast oats, but there are tons of layors of flavors. If you are big in texture, you can also add some fried onions on top or something crispy for a bit of a texture change!

Vegan Hot Cross Buns | Recipe

[Ad- gifted product] Hot Cross Buns are an Easter classic in the United Kingdom – It’s something that I feel I never had even heard of before coming to the UK. It’s a slightly sweet bread, with a cross on the top that is actually not made of anything sweet and instead is normally a mix of water and flour. The outside is sticky and coated with apricot jam, the inside is warm, slightly spiced and a bit sweet. I find them to be quite comforting as a tradition. This year, we teamed up with OGGS Aquafaba to create vegan hot cross buns – you can find loads of recipes for Easter treats and other vegan goodies on their website.

3 recipes to serve with beer at home

[Ad- gifted product] With St Patrick’s Day on the horizon and a lovely new drinking stein in the house, we decided that we should try out some new food recipes which could be just perfect for an evening in, or after you’ve had a few drinks. We decided to go for a mix of meals, either coming up with our own ideas for the food or taking inspiration from elsewhere. As you’ll know from reading the blog, we love trying out new recipes and have also tried our hands at a few drinks kits over the last year. But, for this post, we’ve decided to tie the two things together with some great foods to try out on an evening of drinking.

We made three different meals, ranging from snacks through to very large portions, and we’ve got the recipes for all three of them below. There’ll be red pepper and pesto grilled cheese, fried pickles as well as bratwurst in blankets. They’re all great in their own ways, and – perhaps surprisingly – we had different favourites at the end of it all.

Vegan Victoria Sponge Cake | Recipe

[Ad- gifted product] Victoria sponge cakes are classic – and for a reason. They are light, fresh tasting cakes that pack quite a it of flavour. They are surprisingly simple to make, and you can add any fruit or jam to them that you’d like, putting your own spin on the cake. We took a look at Love OGGs vegan Victoria sponge cake, made with OGGs Aquafaba. Aquafaba is an egg alternative, which can be easy used for baking, whipped up into a foamy, creamy, egg-white-like consistency. Love OGGs have a bunch of different recipes, for all sorts of delicious treats, if you are ever looking for a great collection of vegan recipes.

Vegan Scones (Cooking with Kids) | Recipe

As vegan food is particularly big during the month of January, I dug out the book Cooking with Kids, which I got last year during it’s January launch in London. I didn’t have time to play around with the book then, but now that we seem to have tons of time on our hands, I dug it out! Cooking with Kids is a great book in the way that it is written – all of these recipes are easy to follow and you could probably hand them to a teenager for them to do themselves. Without having vegan in the title, all of the recipes are actually vegan, just by default, but the book itself is just designed to be one that you can use to get you and your family into the kitchen.
