Midweek Meal Inspo; Chili, Garlic Butter Chicken, Pad Thai and more.

This weeks meals are a little all over the place! Some are from before Kai started his fitness journey, with his personal trainer and an app that needs to measure his food and some are after. At the moment, we are sort of cooking him separate meals, to best support what he wants in life. It’s been a challenge adapting, but a challenge worth taking on for him. The rest of us are still looking to eat our favorites and try new foods as well!

Gnocchi with Sausages

The children have discovered their love of gnocchi, so we have been experimenting to figure out if they like it cooked different ways. We fried up some sausage in a pan, along with the gnocchi. There are two types; a sort of boiling type that ends up soft and a pan fried type that ends up crispy. These crispy ones got very crunchy on the outside! After they were crispy, we added in some Italian seasoning, cherry tomatoes and some fresh basil. Amelia and Robin decided they like it better soft, where as Kai likes them crunchy!

Traditional Dinner at The Bothy Restaurant and Bar

While staying in Loch Ness with Abbey Holidays, we weren’t very interested in cooking our on food! The Bothy Bar and Restaurant is one we often passed going from Loch Ness to our accommodation. They offer a traditional Scottish menu and feel a lot like a community bar and restaurant, with tons of families inside. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived, so I didn’t get any pictures of the inside in the end, but people eating were sat in a conservatory on the side of the main building, which had a large bar. All of the specials were written on a giant chalk board next to the serving area for the staff. We were seated quite quickly, as they don’t take reservations, and went straight into looking at the menu.

Oh My Pigeons – Silly Bird-Inspired Board Game

[Ad- gifted product] On our bi-weekly board game night at Geek Retreat, we sat down to play Oh My Pigeons! This board game is one we saw at the Christmas Press Show before Christmas of last year, and got an adorable key chain stuffed animal of. Robin, who loves birds, was quite interested in the sound of the game, especially after having the plush key chain for so long. It’s a silly game where you find yourself trying to fill up a coop of pigeons.

Acting like a Kid at Bubble Planet

Sometimes, you see advertisements for places and you think that maybe, maybe it’s too good to be true. Lots of things are over hyped, and when we got to the outside of the warehouse that Bubble Planet is in, with a bunch of primarily toddlers going in, I thought “oh wow, I have made a mistake”. Bubble Planet is an immersive experience where you can sort of learn about spheres and bubbles, but primarily experience and play in bubble related rooms.

Exploring the Harlow Open at Gibberd Gallery

As parents, we like to encourage all of our children’s interests. For Robin, that’s primarily gymnastics and playing guitar. For Kai it’s going to the gym and playing DnD, for Amelia, it’s arts and drumming. So, when our local art gallery announced the Harlow Open at Gibberd Gallery last year, we encouraged Amelia to pick out a photo and enter, though she didn’t make it in, she was mentioned and felt very proud of that! This year, she and Robin decided to do a painting.
