Whirly Derby is a unique marble-racing game

[Ad – Gifted Products] Every other Monday, we play a board game at our local Geek Retreat and have a few shapes, as a way to kick off the week. This time, we played Whirly Derby with Robin, Dann, Amelia, myself, and Amelia’s friend who joined us for the afternoon. Whirly Derby is a very unique looking board game, being primarily made of metal and with rolling marbles made of glass throughout it. Setting up the board game is easy, as you sort of fold out a little cardboard base, plug the metal topper on it, and then add in the triangle ending bit, that the marbles come out of.

Project 365 – January 2026

I wasn’t sure if I was going to do this again this year! It was such a fun project, but at the same time, I got a little redundant with writing up my day each day. I also feel like we do a ton, and this really highlighted how much we do pack into our lives. I absolutely love having a packed life with so many adventures – Robin calls us an Adventure Family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. In the end, I wanted to continue on and do another year, though I do have a feeling (and know for a fact) that this year is going to be a bit different to last, with so many fantastic plans in store. There is just so much going on, but I do love sharing our day to day in these sort of diary entries, each month. At the bottom of this post you can check out some fantastic bloggers who are also taking on this challenge, though some post weekly or even daily!

January 1st – Hot Pot to start the year

How Creative Expression Builds Early Communication Skills in Palmetto Bay

Communication skills begin forming long before children read or write. In early childhood, expression happens through movement, sound, imagery, and imaginative play. In Palmetto Bay, educators recognize that creative expression is not an extra activity. It is a primary pathway for children to develop language, social awareness, and confidence in sharing ideas with others.

Families who visit a KLA School in Palmetto Bay often notice classrooms filled with art materials, music, dramatic play areas, and open-ended projects. This environment supports communication development by giving children many ways to express their thoughts and emotions. When children create, they practice sending and receiving messages in ways that feel natural and engaging.

Choosing the Right Vitamin D3 + K2 Supplement for Everyday Family Health

Vitamin D has quietly become one of the most talked-about nutrients in family health—and for good reason. From supporting bones and teeth to playing a role in immune function, vitamin D is foundational. Yet many families still fall short, especially in the UK, where long winters, indoor lifestyles, and limited sun exposure make deficiency common.

That’s where Vitamin D3 + K2 supplements come in. In this review, we’ll look at why this pairing matters, what families should consider when choosing a supplement, and how Nutrition Geeks Vitamin D3 + K2 fits into everyday family routines—without hype, fluff, or scare tactics.

Solving Blackbeard’s Treasure at Escape Hunt Lakeside

As previously mentioned, this year is the Year of Escape Rooms, so we are going to be trying out as many as we can. Last year, we went to Escape Hunt Lakeside for their Alice in Puzzeland room, which was pretty good, so we figured we’d try another one there. This time, we went for Blackbeard’s Treasure – which, you may have guessed, is a pirate-themed escape room.
