A Day Out at Spooky Gudetama the Lazy Egg x Artbox Cafe & Boutique

If you frequent this blog (or my instagram) you may have noticed that we love the Artbox Cafe! We have been there for Pusheen and Gudetama, but when Gudetama got a spooky look (and spooky treats added to the menu) we had to go back down to Brighton to try out some of the new Halloween-themed treats! Along with their regular menu of delicious treats – ice creams, cheese cakes, soups, and sandwiches, there is a select dessert menu with a drink for the spooky Autumn season. If you were unable to attend this pop-up, consider this Cake shop online check out your favourite cake.

We, of course, tried both of these desserts, as well as the Pumpkin Spice latte, and had a lovely time! As always, Claire went along with us. Let’s get into it.

Pick Your Poison Boozy Truffles | Review

I was looking for a more upscale, adult candy for this year’s Halloween. Just because kids are the ones trick or treating, doesn’t mean adults can’t have a Halloween themed candy treat! Dann came across the Pick Your Poison Boozy Truffles from Fortnum & Mason – and it seemed perfect! I’ve not had boozy truffles before, but am a big truffle fan.

These truffles weren’t overwhelmingly boozy, they tasted subtle in their alcohol-related flavors, which felt perfect for what we wanted. Our box had two truffles that were duplicated, but the rest had one of each listed. The flavors we got were: Fortnum’s Bellini Truffle (we got two of these), Pink Marc De Champagne Truffle, Fortnum’s Kir Royale Truffle, Fortnum’s London Gin with Lime (we got two of these), Milk Chocolate Port Wine Truffle, Fortnum’s London Gin with Orange, Dark Chocolate Cognac Truffle and Milk Chocolate Whisky Truffe.

Mozart Chocolate Cream Pumpkin Spice | Drinks Recipe

As it’s October, you can now get almost everything in orange, or in Pumpkin Spice flavour. As it turns out, alcohol is no exception to that. As it’s the season we decided to pick up the Mozart Chocolate Cream Pumpkin Spice edition when we spotted it online. I’m going to talk about it for a little bit today as part of our highly Halloween-themed Blogtober challenge.

Firstly, although it’s tough to see on the label, it is a dairy-based alcohol – like Tia Maria and Baileys. If you don’t like those – or have severe allergies – then just stay away. It’s got quite a lot in common with those two brands, however, it should definitely be noted that the flavour really, really comes through in this one.

That said, I’m actually not the biggest fan of pumpkin spice. But this is definitely not to the extremes that we see in other things (Coffee). Sipping it straight you almost immediately get the creamy texture coming though, this is actually almost syrupy. Then, rather than just the flavouring, the bite of the spirit comes through at the same time, with the bite dying away and leaving the taste. It’s nice, and it’s not bad drinking straight, although as with it’s dairy-based cousins I find that it’s better mixed with something else.

What It’s Like Dating Gamer Geeks

[Ad- collab] If you have glanced at my social media, you will find that I am actually a games journalist and community manager working in video games. My partner, Dann, is actually an editor at the world’s largest mobile gaming site. Saying we are gamer geeks is sort of an understatement – we have been in games so long that it’s just apart of our personality. Gaming is actually a big part of most people’s lives, from young children playing games to adults getting together to play online multiplayers or playing single player games on their own.

When I was younger, playing games was something uncool. Now, it seems that everyone is describing themselves as gamers or talking about the newest game they have purchased. With the continuing rise in households with consoles and the availability of games – especially free games – increasing, the number of people who are finding gaming is their main hobby is following suit. Gaming is a way to bring yourself out of this world and enjoy a world worth playing in. Often, dating gamers comes with memes that are quite… incorrect – both from the “gamers dates gamer boys” and the “gamers dates gamer girls” point of view. So I figured I’d share my point of view when it comes to geek dating.

Blue Coffee Box Subscription | Review

[Ad- gifted product] We’ve been trying out the Blue Coffee Box monthly subscription, a box which includes two large bags of ethically sourced, gourmet coffee as well as lots of well-thought-out extra information included.

I know a lot of people who are very particular about their coffee, be that how it’s made, where it’s from, what it’s served with or, of course, what it tastes like. I’d never really lump myself into the category of being a coffee enthusiast, but I do drink a lot of the stuff and we have recently acquired Vietnamese Coffee Makers/Phin Vietnamese Filter following a great experience out at a pho restaurant. I’ve tried a lot of coffee over the years, be that from vending machines, instant or coffee grounds, and had a decent variety of it too. With that in mind, I was very interested in what kind of flavours we could expect from a box like this.
