A Day Out at Enlightened Hyland Park

This year, we wanted to take the children out to a light trail! There are quite a few large light trails that aren’t too far from us, but as the children really love going out to Hyland Park, we figured Enlightened at Hyland Estate, would make for an interesting one to visit. Enlightened is an annual lights festival, but we had never been before, and this year, the website stated it was bigger and better than ever – which sounds pretty good to us!

Get into the Holiday Spirits in London this December

[Ad- Collab] There are tons of things to do in London, especially around the holiday month! We love getting into the Christmas spirit by visiting London and checking out all of the different places within London to explore. If, unlike me, you live a bit far out from London, you should consider traveling into the area with the VIP pass, which will give you massive deals on places to stay, which can really make a difference in your experience. The VIP Pass gives you 7d/6n FREE hotel stay as a sign up bonus when you purchase the premium membership pass. But, let’s get into some of the fun things that you can do in London in December.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is an annual festival that happens right in Hyde Park in London. It’s a massive Christmas-themed market, fair grounds, and festive area. You can meet Santa there, eat a bunch of different foods, ride some rides, and pick out some Christmas gifts for your loved ones. We always go to Winter Wonderland in the month of December. Ensure that you do pre-book, though, so that you can make it in. There are different priced tickets, and if you go midweek in the morning, it’s actually completely free to enter Winter Wonderland, which can be a big help to your budget.

A Day Out at Lumagica – Light festival with impressive illuminations

Dann and I have been pretty into light festivals over the last few years. We have gone to Lightopia, Chihuly: Reflections and Ashford Illuminates – which have all had a different feel to them. When in Norway, we figured we’d check out Lumagica, which seems to be a worldwide light festival, but is not one either of us had heard of or attended before. Lumagica was a unique experience, but most closely seemed to be a mix of Chihuly and Lightopia, in the way it was set up and ran.

A Day Out at Larkins Farm for Christmas Trees

[Ad- gifted experience] Earlier, before all of the trees were ready, we got a chance to check out Larkins Farm and explore their Christmas Trees! Larkins Farm is a local Christmas tree farm, that has a variety of different Christmas trees waiting to be brought home for Christmas. These trees are grown naturally, with weeds all around them and free of pesticides, but have been cut down and placed into an empty field, so that people can explore them and pick out the ones they want. Larkins Farm is known for having natural and real trees – and as it is a family tradition to go out and pick out our Christmas tree, we were excited to select one!

A Day Out at Pepperkakebyen – World’s Largest Gingerbread Town

Did you know that there is a gingerbread town, crowned as the largest in the world? This was something I was not aware of, until traveling to Norway. In the rainy town of Bergen, they hold Pepperkakebyen each year, which is the world’s largest gingerbread town, made by the local community. School children and adults alike come together to create houses, decorated boats, re-create famous buildings and more to ensure that their gingerbread town is the largest that can be found in the world.
