Dinner at Chicos Leyton

One evening, we didn’t have much going on, so Dann took me out to Chicos in Leyton. The week before, we went to Dave’s Hot Chicken with a friend of ours, where I was sure they had these Nashville mozzarella sticks that I have always wanted to try. In England, however, they do not have them on the menu. I had been craving them since, so Dann started looking up how to find them, and Chicos appeared! Chicos is a sort of Instagramable place to eat, with a lot of casual food like loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, and sandwiches. We went one evening right afterwards.

Nashville Hot Mozzarella Sticks and Buffalo Chicken Tenders

Of course, they had the Nashville Hot Mozzarella Sticks, which are massive rectangles of mozzarella, coated and deep-fried. Then, they put this spicy powder on it. It’s just such a spicy, delicious thing! The Nashville Hot Mozzarella came with a ranch, which felt very American, and tasted good too. I liked these a lot and it really fit my craving. I do feel they could have used more of the chili oil that they are meant to have on them, as they were dry, but it was fine. Whenever Dann and I see buffalo chicken on the menu, we have to try it. The buffalo chicken tenders at Chicos were very good. I am extremely picky with buffalo sauce and this buffalo sauce was so good we ordered a second plate of chicken tenders. It was just so good.

Brisket Loaded Fries and Brisket Sando

When Dann looked at the menu, he wanted to try the brisket sando and I wanted to try the brisket loaded fries. These both used the same brisket, of course. The fries themselves were so loaded! These fries were topped with their BBQ glazed beef brisket and a cheese sauce. Looking back at their menu, we think that it might be possible that we didn’t get the full fries experience as our fries didn’t have slaw, pickles or crispy onions. The sauce on top of the fries, which is meant to be a cheese sauce, was more like a burger sauce in my opinion. We found the sort of grind on the beef brisket to be a bit strange – almost mealy, which wasn’t ideal. The flavors were there though! Dann was delighted with the beef brisket sando, which was on two slices of toasted bread. This had the slaw on it, along with the pickles and other toppings. It was a good sandwich.

A mention for the drinks at Chicos Leyton

When you go out to eat, you often get the general pick of different products, similar to what you see in the supermarket. However, Chicos has their own line of fizzy drinks, which is fantastic. Dann tried out like four of the flavors, as you can get refills for £1 and can change the flavor each time. All of them tasted so nice and unique! I got their homemade lemonade, which was also perfect – a great balance of sweetness and tartness. It was just fantastic. The atmosphere here is very Instagram-able, with foods that feel great to take pictures of. We will likey be back again soon!
