[Ad- gifted experience] We recently had our summer holiday in Great Yarmouth, where we spent so much time at the beach, along the main road, and in the sun! On our last day in Great Yarmouth, we went to the Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, which is a really old amusement park that is massive, right by the sea front. It reminded me of Adventure Island, our local amusement park by the sea, but these rides were much older and some were ones we had never seen before.
Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is interesting in the way it runs. You can get a ticket for a 3 hour time slot, wait at your designated gate, and then when your time is ready you can enter the park. Robin is the smallest in our family, and often cannot go in the same rides everyone else goes on, due to her height, however at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, there was only one or two rides she couldn’t ride, and to be honest, none of us wanted to ride those rides anyway! We all went to our gate, and when it opened, got ready to ride some rides! The first ride we went on was a long train that looked over the entire park, and went through the middle of the old roller coaster, which provides as the parks most popular ride.
We were actually really surprised about the amount of rides that interacted, in various ways, with the roller coaster! Our first ride went through it, and seeing the roller coaster from above allowed us to see a fairy tale themed ride that went through the bottom of the coaster. We were really excited for the roller coaster at this point, and beelined there. Thankfully, we went on a day that wasn’t too busy, as there are several signs that said that the ride often has a long wait and to line up well before the end time of your slot, to avoid missing out.
The roller coaster at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is a long one, with big dips, but doesn’t go upside down. It’s one that’s pushed by an operator to start it, and has a giant break in the middle controlled by another operator. It’s a really fun roller coaster and totally lived up to the hype that was around it! We also went on the cute fairy tale themed ride below the coaster, which had loads of different Disney fairy tales, one after another, and was really fun to go through! There were many, many other rides in the park; a caterpillar roller coaster that went through a little apple, a fun house that the kids could run around, a spooky house to do with monsters that was maybe a little too scary, and the log flume.
The log flume is another one of the most popular rides in the park – it’s large and can be seen from far away. Every sign nearby says that it could get you very wet, but how wet is very wet? Look, it’s very wet. We all went in the same log, which went down several large dips and turns, getting us more soaked as we went. It’s probably the most fun log flume I’ve ever been on, and they are my favourite type of ride. Unlike other log flumes I have tried, this entire one is outside and looks really metal and interesting. It’s also full of sea water, which is a really interesting choice, but fitting as it’s right by the sea. We even got our picture at the end as a magnet, as it was so good, before going to one of those large human dryers and getting dry through that!
Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach had some other classics like lollipop themed swings, a carousel, flying elephants and a swinging boat – all were very fun to ride through! There are quite a few different food stands inside the amusement park, though we had already eaten lunch, so we went with a waffle covered with ice cream, strawberries and strawberry syrup, which was a really fun and delicious treat! At the end of our time slot, we had been able to see the majority of the park and had a fantastic time. This park is our favourite amusement park in Great Yarmouth.
