Spooky Walk at Halloween at Wimpole

We have previously done a bunch of different seasonal activities at Wimpole Estate, so when I saw that they were doing Halloween at Wimpole, I really wanted to check it out. This is a light trail, basically that has more of a spooky theme and tons of different actors along the trail which did a good job of setting the spooky tone. It wasn’t horrifying, it’s completely family friendly, and our family really enjoyed it!

At the start of the trail, there is a small fairground, which isn’t included in the ticket price, along with some food trucks. This is a simple fairground, but one that we don’t tend to interact with, as we are there for the spooky walk! So, we started down the trail. If you’ve never been to Wimpole Estate before, there is a long straight walk, that’s lit up with spider webs on this occasion, until you end up at the proper trail. People also exit down this trail, so it might feel like the wrong way for a bit, but it’s not! There are tons of spooky music playing in this walk as well. Once we made it to the giant WIMPOLE sign, we saw the first actor. To be honest, none of us thought this was real and assumed it was an animatronic headless horseman – which we started talking about, and the horseman stopped and waved, changing the way they were walking around. After seeing this, everyone was pumped to be here!

Before the real start, there are more food stalls, that sold Greek food, hot chocolate, etc, but we always want to stop at the middle point for food trucks, so we started on. The lights and decoration areas of Halloween at Wimpole were fantastic. Lots of skeletons, smoke, and bright lights showing spooky scenes. We also ran into so many actors; a grave digger that invited us into the barrier, so that we could have a closer look at his skeleton friend, a witch that tried to convince Robin to join the coven, and a creepy cult member that stepped out of the barrier and stood near us, not speaking, on the trail.

These are just a few of the actors at Halloween at Wimpole – if you like seeing actors really bring the place to life, Halloween at Wimpole is a fantastic opportunity to bring some magic to the spooky season. The different set ups along the way were also fantastic. Some of our favorites was the toxic waste area, with smoke-filled bubbles bubbling over the toxic waste barrels, and the giant glowing tree with skeletons thrown all around it like the tree came to life. We did end up grabbing some very fancy hot chocolate at the middle point, which had different syrups and toppings – very much worth the price. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Halloween at Wimpole and would totally go again next year.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
