Harlow Ballet presents Cinderella at Harlow Playhouse

We have seen the Harlow Ballet preform at Harlow Playhouse previously, as this is something Amelia really loves to attend. Her bestie actually is a member of this group, so she had been quite excited for some time, hearing about their rehearsals. So, on the day they showcased, Robin, Amelia, Dann and I all headed to see the Harlow Ballet preform Cinderella at Harlow Playhouse.

The Harlow Playhouse is a community focused theatre, so it feels perfect for a performance like this. The Harlow Ballet is massive, with a huge range of ages. This year, for Cinderella, they had a bunch of stand out characters along with a lot of group dancing and supporting roles. This play was shown in three parts, with two intervals, being quite a long showcase. The talent on stage, however, was fantastic. The show followed a pretty classic telling of Cinderella, though as it was a ballet, there was no speaking.

Instead, all of the emotions were told through dancing and movement, as the various children in the Harlow Ballet danced around the stage. There was a bit of magic in Cinderella as well, through the putting together of props and the timing of some of the stunts that they were able to pull off. A lot of the show just dripped with pure talent, clearly showing how much time and effort these young people put into the show. There were moments of fantastic movement, bits of story told in a wonderful way, and a lot of emotion shown through these young people.

It’s very clear that the Harlow Ballet is full of hard-working, talented individuals who have come together to create such a fantastic show. We will be at the next one, as we always are, and are excited to see exactly what they end up showing next!
