I have previously had mango sticky rice at Imm-Aroy when they were located in Chinatown, but now they’ve moved to a new spot where they have a sit-down menu! This was very excited, so when my friend was next in town, we decided to go over to Imm-Aroy and see if the food was good.
Thai Boat Noodle Soup
I got the Thai Boat Noodle Soup as starter and Gary got it as a main. This broth was bubbling away by the door and smelled absolutely stunning! It’s a beef broth, with meat balls, stewed beef, and noodles. We both picked vermicelli noodles, as they are our favorite. The broth was slightly sweet, very rich, and there were plenty of toppings you could add on. I added a dash of chili flakes to mine! The beef was pull a part tender and the meatballs were dense, like you get with Thai meatballs.
Pork Crackling
Gary got the Pork Crackling as a starter, which he said was very, very fresh and good. The one I had was a nice crunch level and very well seasoned as well. He dipped it in his soup, adding a bit of a crunchy element to his meal, which he enjoyed.
Drunken Noodles
Many of the dishes at Imm-Aroy have options when it comes to the noodles or meat that you want to add. So, I got Drunken Noodles with beef. Now, these noodles were very well cooked – still with a good bite on them – and the sauce on everything was fantastic. It’s a very flavorful dish! I really liked the amount of food here for the price. The side salad was just a little salad – but it was refreshing.
Mango Sticky Rice
Sadly, Gary is allergic to Mango, but he won’t die if he’s around mango, so I ate the mango sticky rice. I do love the mango sticky rice from Imm-Aroy, which is just as good as their older location. The rice is nice and sticky, with a great bite. There is plenty of the sweet sauce and lots of perfectly fresh mango. It’s just really, really delicious! The Mango Sticky Rice wasn’t served in a real plate, and instead was in a paper bowl, but I didn’t mind at all.
Imm-Aroy was a cozy, nice place. There isn’t tons of room inside the restaurant, so you can smell the food and see that it’s still a work in progress, but I had a lovely lunch with great company and am sure I will find myself back.
